hopefully someone buys all the leftover projector casing and parts after you're done harvesting the diodes..... if not there must be some big piles of useless projectors somewhere...

Hopefully someday Casio will offer the laser assemblies as replacement parts, and they can all be made whole once more.

Perhaps other parts like the red LED are sellable as well?

The diodes will probably be cheaper if they offer the laser unit as a replacement part... I have no idea how much of the total cost for the projector is spent on the blue lasers, but i doubt its more than half.

When I called the customer service number I just got a fax tone. Seems too good to be true.

True to form, I just placed an order for two, which apparently also gets me a free Playstation 3 via their fall promotion for orders over $1000.

After about 3 minutes, they have not yet authorized a charge against the card I used.

I'll let y'all know how it goes.

That would be sweet if it were true but I think there is a good chance it is not. Especially with a free playstation. I paid $780 for mine through Newegg. Could have got it $10 cheaper but I had it in my hand in one business day. That was worth $10 to me.

Also did a tutorial on how to break it down.

Dang if/when someone actually gets these for that price I'd be interested in a couple diodes at a decent price if someone would sell them...don't have the money for a full projector unfortunately...:D

Should have looked into it further. Looks bogus(UPDATE but maybe not :)). Better business bureaus does not show such a company and the whois information on that domain shows the domain was registered 10 days ago. It was also only registered for the minimum 1 year.

BBB search:
http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews

Whois INFO:
Domain Name: ELECTRONICS-CENTER.COM
Registrar: MELBOURNE IT, LTD. D/B/A INTERNET NAMES WORLDWIDE
Whois Server: whois.melbourneit.com
Referral URL: Domain Names, Web Hosting, Search Engine Optimisation & Web Design
Name Server: NS1.OURNSMANAGE.COM
Name Server: NS2.OURNSMANAGE.COM
Status: ok
Updated Date: 11-oct-2010
Creation Date: 10-oct-2010
Expiration Date: 10-oct-2011

A search at Dun and Bradstreet also comes up empty:
https://smallbusiness.dnb.com/ePlat...AR&zip=&city=&lookupType=&SecurityWord=MBGXHQ

Update 2:
More searching turning up the same address and phone number for discount electronics & sales.
http://www.local540.com/marketplace/businesses/discount-electronics-sales/

Duns & Bradstreet result for it:
https://smallbusiness.dnb.com/ePlat...city=SPRINGDALE&state=AR&zip=72764&country=US

Update 3:
Looks like the building was up for sale recently and it is a commercial building which might mean they bought it.

'decent' price??? you need to see what they were a year ago--you are insulting us.

$50 a diode is not indecent.

my 2 cents
h of that name does not come up with much... good or bad-- smells fishy to me.

hakzaw1...I just thought that if this was actually a legit place where it would save people ~$200 per projector it wouldn't be too much for me to ask for a couple diodes for $30. Seeing that I found the site and that they cost ~$21 per diode IF that price were true.

I honestly don't think that as insulting you and I'm sorry if you see it that way.

I still don't understand why you'd have to take appart an entire casio projector just for the sake of harvesting the diodes! I mean cant we ask casio to sell their diodes individually seeing that there is such a huge demand for them? I would be glad if someone could clarify things up for me...

are you wearing goggles in your avatar?

But on topic, I'm pretty sure you can buy diodes straight from casio as samples.
