I just got a call from a guy with a swedish accent. I tried to jot down all of the laser jargon but it's tough for a noob like me :(

Here is what he pretty much said
x-y is on these lasers are extreme, large beam, can be brought down to 8x8, addition cost. SCA lense = micro lense, 42 degree to 8 degrees, + 75$ per unit.

9mm package is what we need, c-mount is not for hobbiests.

He's going to get me some prices. This is worth looking into further?

Thanks

Sounds like what he's saying is that the diodes diverge quickly, and they charge an additional $75 to add the fast axis collimator which will bring the divergence down to 8 degrees.
That's normal for these diodes.

These diodes would be difficult to use without the FAC, so it depends on the price.

C-mounts are better for higher power than 9mm diodes.

I'm still interested, If you do get the prices please post them.

Long ago, I modified a Kenom barrel head for c-mount so he could test it. I believe his next run will also take a C-mount device.

Hello ------,
Attached find the 635nm 400mW laser in a 9mm package specification.
If you order 100 units the price is $300/pc.

Ooh... not c-mount but just as good... these 9mm ones would fit into the Meredith module.
However, I don't think we'll ever get a GB for 100 of 'em.
I think I'm the only one that's even remotely interested :p
