You'll have to check out what the difference is between this one (GBW-H20L) vs. The 6X we've been using (GGW-H20L). If it's the same sleds/diodes, then this is nice.


I know that the GGW-N20L is on the way (still 6X -- darn -- the 10X's aren't out yet). Maybe LG is widening the 6X market.

Daguin is right -- We in the 6x club ;D have been using the GGW-H20L drive. The H20L part may support the 6x LD. My first one was ~$330 !!

Just got one a few hours ago at CC for 229.99 +tax. For now, I need it for backing up all my valuable software. Buring 5 DVD+dl's weekly was getting old real fast.

per the owners manual, the "L" at the end denotes litescribe capable, while "E" is the non-lightscribe version/drive.

You actually want to use one of these drives in your computer to burn data!?
Don't you know there's a powerful violet laser inside? :p

$240 would buy me 1.5tb worth of harddrives to add to my RAID array, personally I wouldn't waste that kind of money on removable media... That's just me of course, but in a year or two I'll probably buy one when they're down to $20.

The GGW-H20L supports HD DVD reading, while this new cheaper version (GBW-H20L) doesn't support the failed HD DVD format. Other than that, they are the same.

I need to backup software and data that is valued over 1/2 million. So the backups go into 2 fireproof safes and once and a while I burn discs that are held in a safey deposit box at the bank. Everything is backed up to hard drives as well.

I have 2 hi-powered xbox360 100mW blue/violet lasers, and a lower powered 360 laser as well. So right now there are no intentions of harvesting the diode yet.

looks like Circuit City made a bit of a mistake, or at least they were trying to get on my good side with the $229.99 price... cause now its $279.99!!!

I've got one of the 6x burners in my computer as well. NO WAY am I gutting it for a measly diode.

Kenom you must have a beast of a processor, the box on my 6x that i took apart said min of 3.2ghz. Thats some intense processing power.

You overclocking?
