Ends Tuesday 09/18

https://www.surplusshed.com/

Coupon Code: SS31312

Good deals if you want stuff like lenses, etc. I wish I had waited and got some stuff with this sale. I thought the 30% deal was good!

*OUR BEST SALE EVER: 40 PERCENT OFF EVERYTHING-ENDS TUESDAY 9/18 AT 11:59PM *

Welcome to the tenth 2012 Surplus Shed Newsletter.

ALL INSTOCK ITEMS ON OUR WEBSITE ARE ON SALE, 40 PERCENT OFF THRU TUESDAY 9/18/12
This is the last sale for this year, 2012, and it's a beauty. We just made an
agreement with a major optics manufacturer to obtain several hundred thousand
pieces of optics and we need funds and room. Hence this one time special sale.
There will be no more sales this year.

This should give you an opportunity to empty out your wishlist and get those
optical and electronic items you have been dreaming of. We have 68 different
categories of surplus bargains. Take a look at our "Item Quick Find" drop down
box at the top left of our site. Click on a category to see pages of stuff you
cant live without! Everything is on sale at an incredible 40 percent off our
already very low surplus prices. Great opportunity for gift shopping.

Lots of our items are rare and limited quantities. "First come, First served".

Everything you purchase from now thru Wednesday using out website can have a 40
percent discount on the entire order. At checkout click on the "Redeem Coupon"
button. To get your discount, YOU MUST ENTER COUPON CODE: SS31312. SALE ENDS
TUESDAY, September 18 at 11:59PM Eastern time. (LINK <http://www.surplusshed.com/>)

PLEASE NOTE REGARDING PAYPAL PAYMENTS: if you pay via PayPal and the PayPal
charge is either too little or too much, we will immediately refund any over
payment, or invoice you for any underpayment. PayPal works fine for normal
orders but sometimes when we have a sale it gets confused (must be our coding)

This sale does not apply to previously negotiated volume discounts, or previous
orders. We cannot make exceptions to the sale end date. We want to thank you for
your valued support and motivate you to order more stuff during this sale so we
can get more bargains for your future purchasing pleasure.

With a BSC you can both split one laser into two or combine two -they need to be the same nm or close.

those labled as broadband will combine or split almost all wavelengths IIRC.

Fred at SS is a great person to deal with- while there are sales gong on look into becoming a VIP buyer- save additinal 10 % off and you get two shippings a month for a year for free.. so during the above sale IIRC you would get shipped free and at a 50% discount on stuff that is already priced to sell.

you can trust SS 100%

bookmark SS- sign up for the newsletter- they do not come out all that often and always show the latest new items and the sales.

be sure to let Fred know you that from this forum and that Hakzaw(Len) and BBadger sent you. If you find a great use for a SS item they will add you 'find' to the listing and give you credit for the idea..I envy those who live close enough to shop in person.

sending this link to Fred now!!!

And also what do the beamsplitters do? I know this is probably a dumb question but I just want to make sure I know before I make purchase

Splits a randomly polarized laser beam, or combines two oppositely polarized beams (diode lasers)

Hak's right about signing up for the newsletter. I always wait until their sales; they're usually about 20-30% off depending on the sale. This one in particular is a HIGH percentage off.

I don't buy enough from them to get the membership; however, if I buy something more expensive (> $350/yr) as a percentage it'll probably pay for itself. Also the the free shipping 2x per month (i.e. $5 saved each order) is really handy for those really small items--and a reason I get Amazon Prime.

Also remember that member or not, shipping is a mere $5 for the entire order no matter what the size (and that can be HUGE).

As for the beamsplitters: beware that some of the beamsplitters are not polarized beamsplitters, so you can't combine beams with them. They do a good job splitting them though.

Some stuff I've found very useful:

- Bulk aluminum plates - They're really cheap ($0.20 in quantity > 10) and great as shims or just to try and mount things to. I bought 100x of those one time.

- Super-short focal length cylindrical lens - Combine this with a 30mm cylindrical lens and you can collimate the fast axis of the 638nm laser to a beam about 3-4mm in size--without using an aixiz lens. There are losses, but it's great for experimenting.

- Sharp laser copier assembly - Last time I bit the bullet and bought like 6x of these things in case they did sell out. These have great motors with hex mirrors on them--perfect for liquid sky effects that you could even time for patterns.

Also remember they sell oddball things and electronic parts, like surface mount caps, resistors, screwdrivers, robots, posters, etc. Just search around. There is TONS of stuff.

Last day of the sale! Found a sweet deal on Bourns 5k multiturn trim pots. 10 for $10! Combined with the 40% off sale, that's $0.60 per trim pot! These normally go for $3.50 each on Mouser.com. You can't even touch the non-discounted price at 10000x quantities.

I'm picking up 50x of these bitches. I can use them in everything. Hopefully I haven't bought too many of them ha!

Saved myself $52.00 on this order! DAAAAMN.
