The 301 can light matches and burn. It is more mw. The other post is not powerful at all. It is very bright just not powerful.

You are right, the one I showed does not have adjustable focus, yours is better. How many mw is the 301? The one I showed is 50-70 mw, sometimes less, sometimes more, luck of the draw on what you get.

I've heard the laser 301 and 303 is about 50-150mw and it is also adjustable focus like you said, probably the better choice although it doesn't have the constant on. But that's good if you drop it!

Best overall way over-spec 3 pack Ebay pens (seller "overfeel" out of NYC) that I know of that I use in my "how to make your pen focusable tutorial" are now back and being sold for about $14 again. He had raised the price up to almost 4 times that for a couple months.

Some choices are:

I have a real 5mw pointer but it is broken when I had it, it probably really was 5mw not very bright, I don't think these pen type are more than 5mw because you've got to run it off of 2 AAA's but then there is the WL evo and nano to refute my thought.

Not sure what you mean. The first 2 links are WAY overspec units that are built better than any of the other ones I've tried from other sellers. The lenses are easily adjustable with some skinny needle nose pliers or a paperclip bent to access the holes on either side of the lens. They all take 2 AAA batts. Have purchased at least a couple hundred pens over the past 2 years. The 405nm and 650nm give a solid steady reading on my Ophir.

Are you talking to me, I was just sayin I wasn't sure that the standard alkalines give enough current to make a balloon popper.

Yes ^. Can easily pop a balloon with either the 405 or 650 focused. This sellers 405nm run from 55-85mW and the 550nm are going to be 90-130mW. A red focused 650mW pen like these will light even a red match head easily.
Even if you don't make the 405nm or 650nm fully focusable as in the tutorial, just taking the cap off and turning the lens of course will do it. Just DON'T scratch the lens. They are plastic.
The 532nm is all over the place and could be 15mW to a 100mW but the upper end is very unlikely. MORE likely to get 30-50mW out of it (talking with IR).
i have all different color balloons but haven't tried popping with these pens not focused. Would be surprised if the 405nm and 650nm didn't pop a black balloon though.

The good ones I list are from USA New York City and will ship to people in the US from 3-5 days USPS mail 3-5 days to you from time of order so you aren't waiting 3 weeks from China. Don't have anything to recommend other those as I have a lot of direct experience with them.
