Jeez, some of you guys are really lucky. I ordered 3x 405nm and 1x 532nm on November 18th and I received them on December 30th. I live on the East Coast too. :p

I don't have an LPM so I can't really give a mw reading and I just used standard Duracell AAA.

My green laser is pretty good, I can see the beam easily inside with a little dark lighting. If I go outside at night the beam is really visible and I can easily use it for star pointing. The green is really fussy though. Sometimes it works fine, other times I have to wiggle the tail cap around or unscrew it to get a good connection. It also takes a second to warm up I'm assuming. It's low powered when I first click it on and after a second it becomes a lot brighter. The dot is really nice though and my green feels nice and solid compared to the 405s.

I'm guessing my three 405s are above 50mw. One of them I thought was dead but it was just the faulty tail cap. I couldn't get the tail cap to work on any of the lasers. The 405 I thought was dead actually turned out to be the most powerful one I got. It's visible inside in dim lighting and when I go outside I can use it to star point. It's not as bright compared to the 532, but I can see it next to the 532 beam at night and I can't with my other 405s. It's not that much dimmer compared to the 532 beam. Haven't tried burning anything. All the 405s I got were really stable too. Of the three working tail pieces I have the 405s used each one without a problem, but the 532 was picky about which back I put on it. Front piece with the module, diode, etc also feels really light compared to the 532 for some reason. My 532 feels balanced in my hand but the 405s are all back heavy.

$17.66 for four solid lasers is pretty nice. Only problem is the faulty tail piece I can't get to work on any laser. I'll post pictures later if anyone wants.

First post on this forum and it's a review/wall of text.

I bought a Violet laser for my brother and it came 100mW O_O. I hope he can handle the power.

I wonder if it was the same seller

I was going to order one of these the other day, but they don't ship them to the UK. Is anybody willing to sell me one?

Received my 10 lasers today (5 purple and 5 green) from which 6 was DOA 5 greens and 1 purple. Could anyone suggest what to do next? Should i open dipute?

Did you order these from ebay 'valueoffer'?

if so just email them via Feebay and let them know- I got 9 sent in two orders and one was DOA. Valueoffer sent another with out questions but rotten luck hit and it was DOA as well- now waiting on a replacement for the replacement-I did not have to send the bad one back either- the free shipping is now gone at Valueoffer but here is a link to a 3 laser deal that MAY be as good or better- I have ordered a set and will let all know how this turns out for me. At those prices I am cool with an occasional DOA-these make nice suprizes to add to other items that I am sending out.

@ qwas789-- is there some reason that you never filled out your personal profile here at LPF--????
we cannot help you as well when we have no idea where the heck you live- it DOES matter and you NEED to still go do that- at least the country--
link to 3 RGV deal at less than $15usd..(for al three shipped free)

3pcs 5mW Laser Pointer Pen Combo Green Blue Violet Red Light Best Gift | eBay

since it was DOA I broke the DOA open and here is whats 'under the hood'
there was a white plastic sleeve between the module and the brass housing- not sure why-- maybe to electrically isolate it- in any case that would lower the heatsinking IMO.
the black plastic thing in these pics was around the SMD driverboard.

Beat one I got was very close to 100mW- & I plal to remove it from the pen housing and press it into an AixiZ copper blank module and in turn put that into an old lab laser head that I have. If that works OK I will make a second 405 labby and cube the two together to get close to 200mW for one of my many lumia PJs. Total cost will be pennies.I may test one to death just to see if these can stand long duty runs. Not much to lose...

@ qwas789

Can i use 1 10440 and 1 dummy AAA with this purple laser?

........IMO- yes you can (AFAIK)use a dummy battery to place a single 3.7 vdc li-ion instead of two aaa batts- if that kills it you are not out a lot of $$ so go for it- you may get a better output that way and save $$ by NOT using primaries. please let us all know if that works for you.

@ Ciaran--
Before you go the midddleman route just 'ask the seller' via eekBay if he can ship to you in the UK- he may have that in his listing for Feebay and may be happy sending some to you in the UK. worth a try IMO. or just try another seller- I am guessing that almost all sellers in China get these from the same place(s) & it would be foolish to NOT try and get the best ones they can while still almost giving them away- the price of a bare PHR is way down but still more than these 405 pens cost and you get a driver plus the crappy pen host. BTW getting the module out w/o ruining the pen host is not very doable- I had to destroy the host to free the one in the pics--

Never thought that would matter. Updated my location.

I've gone through a few of these, but I have a few more on the way so :D. to get the front cap off I just used some pliers, if you jiggle it gently back and forth it will come off. then you should be able to carefully push the whole module out of the host. If you don't care about the host just cut it open. I also have one of the more expensive (but still cheap, I paid 12 bucks) adjustable focus pointers. they come with a nice anodized aluminium host, safety lock with 2 keys and a focus ring and run on 1 cr123 or 18650 (includes battery extender). I'm very happy with it for what I paid, I actually ordered another one but green this time. As soon as my charger gets here ill post some beam shots.

heres the greenie I ordered it was 2 bucks more but still good deal http://www.ebay.ca/itm/290833440776...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_4549wt_1159 be sure to read the description, hilarious translation :D

It's WAY over 5mW lol, I don't have an LPM but ARG Laser lives fairly close and has offered to meter my lasers :D so once my greenie gets here I'll see about getting it done and post the results. And maybe he'll let me play with his 4.4W beast while were at it ;)

This laser Astronomy Adjustable Focus Burning Green Laser Pointer + charger | eBay is the exact same one I got for 14 bucks, this one comes with a battery and charger though, and the listing has better pics. However, I know if you look you can find them at auction for 10-15 bucks. I'm thinking about switching out the cheap stock lens with a 3 element glass lens and pimping out the host a little bit. So for around 30 bucks I'll have a decent laser.

Anyway... when it gets here I'll get it metered and post results.

My 405nm in the same host does burn! lights a white match in a couple seconds, lazed my name in a piece of wood, even cuts electrical tape fairly easily. Beam is visible in a lit room, and looks awesome in the dark without smoke.

Edit: just found this site http://www.laseracheter.com/kgl-303-300mw-laser-point-vert.html same host as the one i have, listed there as 300mW but it's also 150 bucks... Hmmm can't wait to LPM them!

They make lots of different lasers with that host... I have two and they're very different output wise.

Yup! and I have seen them for prices varying from 10 bucks to 300, which is why I can't wait to find out how much power the ones I bought have. I'd be happy with 50-100mW, but who knows maybe it is 300mW :D
