I wouldn't call it fighting, just bickering like old women (myself included)

Since Jeff doesn't want me to bother him anymore, it's good to see another source of silicone wire show up. I don't have much use for it these days, but I like to include it with my kits as a courtesy.

Shall we call this SS silicone wire?

rhd, I believe I owe you a heat sink don't I?

Got my wire in today from Greg, it's really nice stuff. I haven't soldered it to anything just yet, but it looks to be a winner. Hope he keeps some in stock all the time - I'd hate to go back to that Teflon insulated wire I had been using in the beginning. Talk about hard to strip!
A+ Greg!

Moh - Yep, I believe so. Should I send you back the LEDs? hehe :) j/k

Also, if you're looking for big orders of the silicon wire and you're ok with 24 gauge, that stuff is pretty easy to get in bulk (and cheaply) I ordered from here I believe:
Test Lead Wire - Silicone Test Lead Wire - Pomona Silicone Test Lead Wire - Cal Test Silicone Test Lead Wire
(not for lasers, it was a while back - but I think it was like $0.15 a foot)

It's the 26 gauge that I never see online.

I wasn't crazy about 24 gauge for laser work though. I know 2 gauge difference shouldn't matter, but it seemed to. (for clarification, may not have been the same stuff as SS's wire here - I'm just talking about 24 gauge silicon wire that I've used)

Cool ! How funny, though - I read your post, thought it was Jake...I was getting ready to call you out, since his went out TODAY - I mean, Priority is generally fast - but not THAT fast !

Glad you like it - I'm pretty impressed with it, all kidding aside !

Argh.... this recent drama fest really sucks. It's not fun for anyone. First fighting between LPM sellers, now fighting over wire sales? Lame. Not fun.

Hey, that was many a post ago ! Keep up !

I DO apologize to all the folks who are in this thread that are trying to keep on topic, and don't want to listen/read all the drama. I should not have responded - and will try to be better in the future.

To turn your patience into something that will benefit you - I'll run a "drama" percentage off code by mid-April.

Again, my apologies.

LOL ! Hey man -a shotgun rack would be AWESOME on my chair ! :gun:

Once the last kiddo is outta the house (She graduates High School this year :) ) THEN I can ditch the laser hobby, and re-acquaint myself with some marksman fun :) Shot all the time prior to kiddos -wanted ZERO percentage chance of injury to them from MY weapons, so got rid of them all.

Everyone, look how much stuff I got for 11$ shipped to my house.

40 feet of wire, 10 ft of heat shrink tubing, and probably 30 of the uranium cracked glass marbles! Wow Greg, thank you so much for all of this! All I ordered was wire! Sooo cool! This heat shrink tubing ia perfect! So I'm very glad you'll be stocking it now, even though I won't need any soon because I just got ten ft for free!!

You only got 8 feet for free, so you can buy 2 more feet if you wanna..... hahahahahaha ! :)

I have carried over from LAST Christmas, my "special" of throwing in free stuff with random orders, upgrading to Priority postage, etc....just kinda randomly, or whenever I feel like it :p (the two are not mutually exclusive !) Anywho - glad you liked your surprise, only use your new powers for good.... :)

I love your business card too man! That shits awesome

Thanks ! :) A customer of mine actually came up with the idea, and everything - I got an unmarked package in the mail one day - and inside was a box of business cards ! WOW ! So - I kinda REALLY believe in the whole, "Pay-it-forward" mentality, and I had mentioned it to him at one point, and that was his answer ! It's AWESOME to get pleasant surprises like that, so I keep doing it, too :)

I don't like to argue, and please don't take me the wrong way, I'm only "somewhat" of an A-hole ;) ..... but facts are facts. First of all, this wire from testpath.com is MORE expensive than Greg's stuff. I ordered two 33 feet lengths of the 24 gauge stuff, green & yellow. My bill for each 33 foot length was $6.20. Sounds really nice, but when they hit you with a whopping $7.95 shipping! OMG! And it comes in a lightweight bag, there's where your cost comes in. Greg would ship to MARS for free - lol! Any this comes out to 31 cents per foot, Greg's stuff is 28 cents per foot, AND much better wire.
I examined this testpath.com wire closely, and yes it is silicone insulated and easy to strip as expected. However, first thing I noticed right when I put my hands on this stuff is that it is kinda stiff. So I stripped back a bit more of the wire, I counted only 7 strands, which is how they advertised it, I just thought this stuff would be more flexible since someone recommended it here. Anyway, I stripped back Greg's stuff and I couldn't even count the number of wire strands there were so many and so tiny, I took a macro close-up with my camera and zoomed in good, I counted at least 30-40 strands, so whoever stated earlier about having multiple strands (I believe Hemlock Mike said) makes your wire quite flexible, well Mike is right.
I wouldn't use the 24awg wire from test path for diode connections, but perhaps it would be fine to connect my drivers to. I won't be ordering anymore of this stuff. If I would have just listened to my instincts, I could have had 70+ more feet of the good stuff instead!!!!!
As I told Greg before, sometimes I like to be the crash test dummy for things...:banghead::banghead::banghead:
