Well there we go

Can't wait to see all the results. Make sure you all are using a stable and consistent laser or the results are not worth crap. Start metering your lasers to find the most consistent and stable of the collection

I have just the lasers in mind. I have a few that hit the same mw every time. I suffer from LPM ocd :)

Greetings,

The one I mentioned is identical to the G9 as I have tested, and there is no difference in output. It is the same lens. I have a few more on order as I only got 1 on my last order.
As long as they are the same as the first one I got, they'll work.

cheers,
Moe

I think they're even shorter, like 2-3mm or less. That's the real reason they have such high transmission. The short focal length means that more light is captured at that lens diameter. It's also why the beam looks so crappy (no cut off edges).

Any updates on this? :pop:

Jim

Sorry, I know I promised to post test results this weekend. I don't have any lasers using aixiz modules lying around right now, so I have to build one, but I haven't found the time yet. I tried using a weak green pointer that was already focused and passing the beam through the lens, but it was too inaccurate, results were inconclusive.

Results from 445nm are in! Are these lenses worth it? IMO definitely!

Keep in mind my LPM is not high-end, it has an error margin of around 5% according to the manufacturer. (It is the bluefan basic TEC-based LPM)

The particular diode is an M140 at 1.38A. A little under average performance it seems.

Optical power with 3-element lens: 1070 mW
Optical power with genuine G-2 lens: 1480 mW
Optical power with the o-like fake "G-2": 1425 mW

This is the averages of around 3 separate readings. So basically, it is much more efficient than the 3-element lens as expected from a single element. However it is not quite as good as the actual G-2.

The dot looks about the same as the genuine G-2. It is fully line-shaped, not cropped like with the 3-element one.

Also, theses lenses does not come with focusing knobs, so they can be a little tricky to handle if you do not have any spare knobs lying around. Also the inner brass ring that kept the lens in place was a little loose, needed tightening. So build quality is not totally great.

Greetings,

These lenses are identical to the G9 we are pulling from the diode now. The lens specs are identical, 6.33 diameter, 4.02 focal length. What I would like to know is how the holder retains the lens. Is it a spacer inside with an outer retaining ring like the old holders, or a threaded insert ?
I have gotten several of the lenses without the holder for $15 and since these are the G9 lenses, $11 and with the holder is the best yet !!
Like Tony said, good they got a lot of them, there going to go fast !!!

cheers,
Moe

5% is a normal spec, even for professional meters.

Plus the readings you are taking are only with reference to each other, so there's no problems with that :p

Thanks for the tests!

If they turn out to be G9 lens or even some good G2 replicas would you guys be interested in a GB? I've already contacted Susie...

I have a couple G9s that are um-mounted. I was going to buy mounts for them, or try to DIY a mount, but realistically, it's cheaper to just buy these and ignore the bare lenses I have.

At $11 already there isn't to much room for discount especially if it's a worldwide GB unless they take the hot and send to every buyer for you. Anyways there would be a lot of interest if you can reduce the price, trust me

Edit: sell or give away the bare lens. I was hoping after my giveaway last year that more people would do them but not looking good :(

Really about to order 10 of them for future builds. If a group order is happening, I'm in.
