In addition to a "gambler's heart" and well developed patience, you are going to need 208V, 3-phase mains, that can give you at least 45A.

It is bad for the laser to start and stop, usually if you turn it on, you need to keep it on for a couple hours.

Why that?

Because when you turn on it on it heats up which causes thermal strain on the tube, same when you turn it off and cool it down. Causes the seals to degrade faster. The cathode also gets "chunks" blown off of it every time you start it.

who would run it for a whole hour? :D
still, it consumes a lot of energy!
I would love to see a 10 W cyan beam though :O

I run my big 3-phase argon for about 4 hours at a time... I would say if you dont have time to run it for at LEAST an hour, dont even bother turning it on :D

For some reason the electrical costs dont bother me. For some reason it's the thought of the hose on full blast for 4 hours that I hate! haha...
