Yes, I am new

Just wanted to run some things by you all.
I have never been big into lasers but deing deployed in Iraq I am getting very bored very fast.
I decided to buy one and have already ordered one from Micro Fiber Products.
Its a green laser with 5mW Wavelength: 532nw, its the one they say is Military/Astronomy grade.
I really had no reason to buy it except it will give me something to look forward to in the mail.
After reading about lasers I was curious if anything can be done with this or would I be waisting my time?
Has anyone got a laser from this company, something doesnt seem right when they say the cost is usually 150.00 but it is on sale for 35 dollars. What do you all think about this buy?

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but you have paid way too much for that. It is the same laser sold by Deal extreme for $18 delivered. They have a pot inside but on all the ones I have played with it does nothing to the output.

I don't doubt that you will enjoy it, if it is your first greenie, they do have a pretty good beam.

I could imagine being stuck in a desert would get fairly boring.......

Anyways, green lasers can be awesome and can provide countless hours of fun-specially in what i would imagine a rather dark place at night (You dont have much light pollution from large cities) 5mW is a good starter but you pretty much got ripped. Not by much but you should have arrived here BEFORE you ordered A lot of people here know a lot about ordering and using lasers so we could have helped you out.

Deal Extreme sells a 5mw laser for real cheap-probably less than half of the laser you paid for. But dont kill yourself- a lot of geen 5mW's go for MORE than $35, so its not overkill.....(Wicked Lasers CORE now goes for 50 plus 20 shipping so you got a deal compared to that)

By best bet, though, is that you'll want to go higher Higher in power, i mean. 5mW is awesome for a first timer but when you get into the higher models the beam of a 75mw is a rope compared to the meager thread compared to the 5mW.

Just make sure you run it by some people here first before you make a LARGE purchase. When it comes to higher powered lasers you can either get a lot of bang for your buck or a lot of nothing for hat you pay for...... depends on what you buy and who you buy from.
