Hey guys, just got my X-75 and goggles from Nova today. So far i'm loving it, but i've noticed a couple things. First off, even with the nova goggles my eyes still feel a little tired for some reason, and they seem a little dry. Whats up? My avg. power is 96.4 mW and of course i was wearing my goggles during all my thermal experiments. ;D However there were a couple times when i shot it across the basement without any goggles or eye protection. I'm assuming that by buying Nova's sport classes, it would be considered sufficient eye protection. With my power level do i really need to be that concerned about the distance in which i view the laser. Would flashing the dot for a second or two on a wall 20 feet away, and glancing at it deteriorate my eye sight?

You will be just fine unless you stare a long time at the dot at a white wall from a feet away, which I suppose you are not going to do. ;) I use goggles with my x-85 when doing burning experiments and when I am looking at the dot for a long time, you can with no problems look at the dot a looong time at a wall 20 feet away without goggles and it won't damage your eyes. It might be uncomfortable to do so, but it will most definitley not have any long time effects on your eyesight.
Oh, and have fun killing matches and balloons! :D

Okay, so i ran my own little test here to test the IR of my new Nova X-75.  At first it looks good, but towards the end of the video a large blue ring develops around the center dot.  Do i got a leaky IR filter, or is it really nothing to be worried about.  It seems like a lot of IR to me, but hey i could just be an overly-safety conscious i'am quite new to lasers.

Your input is greatly appreciated !  !

P.S replace the DOT with a .  i don't have 20 posts yet >.<

Main reason i'm asking is i kinda get a headache when i use the laser, and i was once told that that is a repercussion of IR.

that blue halo is just the ccd sensor being over exposed. its not IR; and even if it was, the green would cover up all of the IR. To test for IR, shine your laser through something that blocks out the green. ie your laser glasses. the IR will look greyish on your camera.

hope this helps ;)
