lol you havent told her yet..? RUH-ROH.... ;)

Lol - No my wife has never had any problem with me getting stuff for my amusement - as long as its an " it " and not a "her". Something about not binding the mouth of the ox milling the grain.... Just want to walk up to her with a pair of goggles and tell her to put them on and come downstairs to see the birthday present she got me.

She has me - that should equal it out just fine (NOT). She also gets whatever she wants (as long as its an "it" and not a "him") and she expects me to get the best available stuff within legal limits.

I saw the great deal at Amazon - $5k marked down to $4k, but went with LG direct for $3k. That isn't much for hours of quality geek time and to own another interesting piece of technology, but should have checked to see if the had a herc 500 in a backroom somewhere...

My wife was just as understanding... untill I hit a dollar # that she considered luticrus.

Now she stands like a sentinel at the mailbox... Don't tell her ,but some of that money was spent on stockpiling...:) I know how she works...

This might give you an idea of the capabilities of the Hercules line... I have an interested party in my Herc, so I ran a few LB1 tests this morning, here are the results:

Test 1: This test was straight out of the case with regular "D" batteries, with the output control set at midrange (which is where I generally run the laser, it's actually a little lower than the laser was set when shipped but I do that purely for safety's sake)

Test 2: This test was done after warming up the laser for about 5-7 minutes (the Herc takes awhile to get up to optimal temp due to the incredible cooling provided by the internal fan) - For this test I used the DC input with a power supply tested at 4.94VDC and turned the output power up (not all the way, mind you - but farther up than I normally run the laser)

As you can see, there's a LOT of latitude to crank these monsters! As shipped from Laserglow the output specs were 443.6mW peak / 368.8 avg, however a quick Email of the SN# to Justin and he gave me the rundown on the entire testing procedure with this laser, as they recieved it it peaked at 503mW with a stable 440+, however this was one of the first 350's they used the 2.5w pump in so they cranked it down prior to shipping (this is the same 2.5w pump they have in their 400/450 models currently).

Betcha REALLY can't wait to get yours now! :)

BrewCityMusic - those graphs drove me to upgrade from the 400 to the 475. Its all your fault.

Glad I could be of help, LMAO !!!!

You'll learn quickly, the only difference between the laser hobby and a really bad drug addiction is the fact that "the first one ain't free"....
