this happens when the batteries are just about to die in the laser ~30 seconds before it shuts off because voltage is too low

alpha 105 with really really low rechargeable batteries when it's like this it still stings skin but i have to hold it steady. when it's normal it stings bad instantly even when I move it around (semi slowly) it pops balloons still but only at close range when it's this TEM

On reeeeeeallly low batteries (CR123A at 2.5V) I get an elongated TEM00 that shifts to the edge of the aperture;
With the diode out of alignment I get TEM02 and 10;
With normal conditions it runs in nearly perfect TEM00.

I put it in a Galileo body (that's why the battery I use is a CR123), the heat dissipation is much better and it is a lot more stable since the various "mods" I've done...

What is your Alpha averaging?

my laser just stopped mode hoping and I'm REALLY happy about that. I brought it out last night for about 2 or 3 hours of being in the cold. I thought it was the cold effecting it but so far I havnt seen it mode hop again. I'm using some 3.7V unprotected 18650 batteries, and I'd say they are about halfway drained.

Fall/Winter might be the magical time of the year when lasers get fixed! I'd suggest giving it a try lol.
