What do you guys think of this 200mw green?

Okay, here's my situation. My only laser that I have is a 200mw red dilda with 3.6 cr2 batteries (overcharge to 4.2) for extra power. I also have red laser goggles with them. I have been looking for a powerful green laser to complement my red. Since I already have cr2s what do you guys think of this green that takes cr2s? Technically it would be even more powerful since my cr2s are 3.6v, not 3.0.

You should read up on the FAQs and reviews section. Just from looking at their site, I seriously doubt it actually produces 200mw of 532nm light. Real 200mw green lasers cost between $300-600USD. Moreover, they aren't one of the more reputable laser companies since no one here has bought from them. If you're looking for a power green in that power range, check out dragonlasers, novalasers, optotronics, laserglow, or buy a module from o-like and make it yourself. If you buy from them, I'd estimate the output at under 100mw and most of it being IR.

I just recieved mine a couple of days ago, haven't put it on an LPM to test actual output but I can say it is at least as bright as my confirmed 140mW FP green (it actually appears that it might be brighter, but the beam is much thicker, so it may be just an optical illusion) ... It has no troubles with my Juice Brand CR2's, either - as soon as it gets dark, I'll post some comparison beamshots for you, but so far, I really like the performance of this little greenie (especially at this price, I bought it for quite a bit less through SZWholesale which id QCG's parent company, the drawback to them though is you have to spend several hundred $$ to avoid surcharges, shipping costs, etc)

If the beam is thicker AND brighter then that would mean it is of a CONSIDERABLE amount of power

Sweet!
Si if I already have nice overcharged cr2s, do you think this will be a great buy? Will they ship to the USA? I hear if I get them to ship it without any batteries (since i already have them anyway), there won't be any problems.

I wasn't trying to imply it was a LOT more powerful, the beam is similar to Susies old-style large modules which during darness, with fog, etc (such as the environment at our shows, which is the only place I've played with it) it seems more visible than my FP pen which has a really nice tight beam for a chinese laser...

Oh hell, 24 is over, give me a minute and I'll snap those beamshots - here:

See, the camera clearly shows that this 200 has a thicker beam - although the brightness is comparable. (I just shot this in my dining room, no foc, all lights out except my monitor which is the white square on the upper left of pic). Possibly there could be a difference in wavelength, etc because the SZW laser seems (both in the photo and in reality) to be a "brighter" green... Either way, they will both pop black balloons and sharpied matches (with a little "hold" time) with the FP having a slight speed advantage (most likely due to better beam). What I'll do tomorrow is disassemble this one and play with the focus, see if I can focus it to "infinity" a little better and not in such a cone shape and report the findings then.

I'd say it's more powerful. It's physically impossible for a green DPSS laser to emit any green wavelength other than 532nm. There's no tolerance due to the way DPSS lasers work.

so..... should I buy it? If I get a green goggle, will it protect against IR too? Will an IR filter make this a lot weaker?

There are a few different opinions regarding IR here on the forums, the deal is that IR stays relatively collimated just as the green does, so the IR "danger zone" is relatively similar to that of the green (let's say the green beam is on your cheek, then yes, your eye is in danger of IR exposure/damage) ... And these do NOT have IR filters, btw. There are several sources here on the threads for IR filters (be warned, though - these aren't so easy to disassemble) if you insist, generally the drop IIRC is about 15% give or take through a filter.

Glasses, definitely. Anything over 50mW can do a lot of damage in a hurry.

Bottom line, for the $$ this is not a true 200mW laser but it's as good as or better than any of the other "200's" I've encountered (especially if you already have CR2's and a charger) - and no matter who you order from out of China (with the exception of O-Like) you will always be taking a chance but out of the 16 lasers in my last order from this company, none were a major disappointment.

Your decision, but for under $70, it's a nice little laser!

brewcity... hello! should be a great idea to make some photo of ALL you laserpointer BEAMS..... from the higher ower on the left... untill the shittest on the righ.. so.. we could understand how much change in brightness to have from a laserglow 350...to a 5mw XD..... it is a good idea...

Realista - Thats a GREAT idea! I play tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, but I will try to pull that together this weekend, even though a lot of what I can "Beam Out" is green.....

WOO HOO - great idea, Amigo!

I can't agree with you Brew.
I got the same 200mW from QualityChinaGoods as you do, but its not 'that' much better than my BG50.
It is noticeable, but not like you'd go ZOMGWTFBBQ.
Before i even bought the laser, i was told by an employee that the average output was 120mW, which was tested with 3.6v CR2.
Nevertheless, its a fun laser... and tiny... even smaller then the BG50.

I wouldn't buy it.

As it was told

Working Current¡GI<250mA

It means that power of 808 diode is about 200mW, so you will propably get hmmm. let's say 20-30mW of clear green light.

You could get at least 60mW from a 200mW pump.

BTW, that's a RED match at a foot, if anyone was wondering. 200mW, def not. Well over 100, more than likely (but again, unconfirmed).
