Weird dot formation in my 50mw.

I have the normal dot, but around it are two really big filled in circles (of green). They aren't as bright as the dot, but it looks like to big green overlapping circles. One is a bit to the right, and one to the left, so they aren't completely overlapping, kinda like a really 'squished' mastercard symbol. I don't really know what this from, but I'm not woried about it, I was just wondering if it's something that can be fixed.

sounds like the lens must be dirty. See if cleaning it helps, if not that's all I got, I messed up one of my lasers lens, and I'm sad that it's not cleanable.

Is it a 50mW pen style? Because I have had a similar problem, not exactly how your describing though.

I didn't completely understand what you said until I read "squished Mastercard symbol" :crackup:

Looks like you have a low quality module. It seems to be mode hopping to tem20... is does this look similar? (refer to pic below) If not, does any look like the output of your laser? If not you have a dirty lens..

...Sorta, but the middle dot is the main one, but the two outer 'dots' overlap the main entirely, so there's the normal main dot, then two larger dots that overlap the main, as well as eachother. So like I said, a large horizontally squished mastercard symbol, so that they mostly overlap, but not fully. And I can't clean it since I don't have cleaning equipment, AND the tip doesn't unscrew, and yes it's a pen style. I can't really take pics of it though, my cam just can't do it... =[ I will try something in Paint lol.

Try using a magnifying glass or some sort of lens to make the dot bigger and then tell us what you see.

I don't mean to derail this thread at all, but I have a red laser with a similar problem. It went from 80mW to less than 1mW, and the shape of the beam looks almost exactly like a football. The TEM20 image is the closest to what I am getting.

Is there any reference that helps describe what problems are likely to be causing the different modes?
