Re: must know by wednesday! which 2 lasers!

Hey Mikeeey,
I've been waiting 2 weeks for that 90(80mW)mW but I suggest you get the 100W (ya that's how it's listed) labby type laser.(I just canceled that sku9311).
Those 2 mentioned lasers are a unknown quality, I have read nothing from owners.
DX lasers have history of terrible current regulation.
Those 2 lasers don't say Newwish.
I found Newwish to be quality, good.

For $24 (plus $12ish for power) more you will get guarenteed a Newwish and what looks to be a pro. driver circuit, great heat sinking and 20mW more power!
Also, buy two pairs of CR123 Lith rechargeables and a $8 recharger while your at it. and slap it all in a plastic enclosure.
This DX 100mW labby is brand spanking new and I'm going to be a guennie pig on this 100mW because it looks too good to pass up.

My DX true 100mW pointer died in 1 hour and I got screwed because it was a clone Newwish. $100 a hour beam I got. Crystal crib death.

Anyway if buy(sku10096) I promise to help you power it up on batterys or someone else here sure will.
The more peeps that order these the sooner DX will shipem out.
If you don't want to solderthis up I be be happy to send you a nice enclosure to power it up.
(for $20-30 shipped USA)
You could also just take a wall wart, strip , twist & tape wire to the driver for instant beam satisfaction.

Anyone disagree with me or have suggestions?

Cheers,
DGM
90(80)mW? are you talking about the UltraFire one?
nah i dont wanna get a lab laser, i want a portible laser.
your right, there is no info on this laser, hwoever there are very positive feedbacks of the lasers before it (the ones that look like it) so im sure this will be just as good. so ive decided on the laser, now i just need to find the right batteries.

btw looks like i gota wait 1 more day to get it. so lets hope tomorrow!

Yup, I know that's what you meant.. :D I know DX is slow too. But I would like to read your opinion of the laser when you receive it... :) I'm sure others will be interested too.

I agree, stick with the top ones and keep an eye on them while they are charging. They should not heat up at all.

They are not protected cells so you need to be careful. Also you don't want to over discharge them.

Re: must know by wednesday! which 2 lasers!

I ordered the 90mW on the 11th SKU:9311, along with the 3V 1000mAh CR123A batteries SKU:4419, UltraFire 3.0V/3.6V CR123A Charger SKU:1236, and Extendable Fescue with LED Flashlight and Laser Pointer SKU:6078

So far nothing has shipped yet. It's still in the processing stage "Waiting for Supplier" Hopefully I will get them soon and I will be able to tell you guys about them.

Oh, and btw, the 90mW is not waterproof. It is in a WF-501B housing whereas the one's that are waterproof are in a WF-502B housing. However, I think it would be fairly simple to make it waterproof -buy a couple o-rings. I plan on doing this if i can take the electronics out of the housing to test it. Hopefully I'll have mine by December lol.

yea il be careful with it. i wonder if the battery that this comes with is rechargable.
hey i just realized something, look at the 20mW version:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5785
see how it says it will take a 3.0/3.6V battery? shouldnt this means its safe if i just got a 3.6V battery and used it on the 90mW? i guess we dont know tho, and im still waiting for a response from DX.

that sucks..hopefully you get it soon. well im sure you could say it's water resistant right? like you can take it in the rain and it would probably be ok.

Re: must know by wednesday! which 2 lasers!

Mikeey and great Gazoo,
I'm sorry I stomped on your great breakdown thread of the pros and cons between the rechargable batteries etc.....
DX is a little company that makes us happy 95% of the time.
I'm over-criticle of the current/battery problem with lasers.
I was going with the 90mW thats also known as the 80mW. 9311
Chances are the those 3 new lasers will be really cool. You just have to be patient and wait.
I think old DX reg. pointers have a great heavy copper housing with great rubberized finish. Copper is worth $ here USA. I would like to gold plate that battery spring though because the current flucuates sometimes. I'm Rambing....

But I meant what I said. That mini labby suits me better and I can't wait to add a SenKat red LD on that labby driver board with its green module.
I'm reviving my slumbering rusty motorized light show.

Wish us luck everybody on satisfaction on these new DX products!

Welcome to LPF Mikeey
Edit: Your not new, sorry again.

The shot of the beam going through the water is nice. Maybe it's a good thing in a way your DC was rejected. Maybe by the time you find an alternative way to pay for it you will know if a regular protected RCR123 will work in it. It would be a better option and more safe...did DX ever answer you???

DX did not answer me. i sure wish i could get a hold of that guy that made the review. btw my card was rejected but it says "You may want to try using a different credit card or choose eCheck instead. To do this, please click the More Payment Options link."

i cant find the more payment options link anywhere.

I always use paypal to pay for DX stuff, never gave me any problems whatsoever..

I am considering buying this 90 mW laser myself too, and the review on DX looks promising to some degree. However, it's hard to tell how much dx customers know about lasers. I'm sure if someone buys this as their first green laser, they'd be blown away if it just puts out 30 mW too.

So i hope to see a review on this forum at some point, and have the chance to ask the reviewer for addtl information if needed. It's not all about brightness, this like optical quality and duty cycle also count ;)

NG,
Yes it's sku 10096 Dealexteme. I don't have it yet so we have to wait on what it is.
I canceled the Ultrafire laser. See the thread about 100W DX laser.
