What's your budget?
Do you want burning power or beam viewing?
out of the three, I'd choose violet, but that's my personal taste. We need to know more about your criteria! :)

I have a max of 100 to spend, but i'd like to keep it more towards 60 bucks. I like seeing the beam but i'm not sure if i would sacrifice brightness for the thickness of the beam. I know green is bright but you can see blue and violet beams better. I was even looking at the red rifle at lazerer for the 200mw. I am slightly versed in all this mumbo jumbo. I like burning, but i also like brightness. I am seriously torn.

Decide what you want more, burning or visibility. With a $60 budget, it's one or the other, not both.

200mW of 650nm will burn nicely, but will be very poorly visible.

50mW will of 532nm will be very visible, but won't burn... you might be able to pop a balloon.

For burning with either, you MUST get goggles.

Green is always going to be much brighter. Blue would be second best out of the three. Violet will be the hardest to see since its so close to UV our eyes don't see it very well at all. Even the dot looks fuzzy to me.

Blue is also going to b out of your stated price range. Most 445 builds are goings be over 100.

Sorry, but you are wrong there. 100mw of green light is about as bright as 1W of blue. Violet however is even less bright than blue!

Not sure where you got that info from.

If you like burning stuff you will probably want to buy a blue laser. If you are going t be burning stuff too, grab a pair of safety glasses too. 1W of blue is no joke so be careful.

You can still burn stuff with 100mw of green AND have PLENTY of fun with the awesome beam! Green lasers usually have MUCH better beam shape then the blue diodes because the 1 W blues are multimode (flat beam)

Anyway, whatever you choose. You wont be dissapointed! Just remember to be careful with your laser and not to blind anyone or yourself. Being aware of your surroundings is the BEST thing you can learn. Treat your laser like a gun. You wouldn't point a gun at your friend? Would you?

If it's focusable, can a greeny 100mw pop a balloon or possibly cut electrical tape/light a match?

Mine can do all of those. Though its not quite as impressive as my 1W for obvious reasons.

Lazerer is fine... there are a ton of reviews about the company on here... search before asking please :)

Also please use the EDIT button next time, if you want to add something to a post/have another question.
