Thanks for the thanks!!!

Don't want to run the batts dry before I know if the charger will arrive pre-Christmas or post ... so, sadly, away they go after so short an initial run.

^^ I had the same problem! Both the cheap blue battery and the panasonic battery gave very decent run times.. so don't be too shy :eg:

Have you measured its output yet to se eif you got another Mega Beast? :D

It seems as though there is now a thread locker applied to the aperture cap.

Hmm. Tat sucks about the thread locking stuff. I was thinking about ordering another one for a little project I had kicking around but I'd need to be able to disassemble it. Just out of curiosity were you able to get it off? I'm going to order that spanner wrench linked a couple posts up on payday but I have a feeling it won't do any good if there's locker on it.

Don't have an LPM yet... anyone in the Austin area wanna have an LPM party? You bring the LPM.. I'll bring the beer! :san: I'm waiting on that Radian Alpha to become available again. :yabbmad:

The beam is strong and visible in a well lit room.. gotta be ~75mw going by the seat-of-the-pants dyno.

Man.. I just tried again and I definitely can't remove the front of this laser by hand.

Both of mine are visible in a lit room, but I wouldn't call them strong.

Held up to black electrical tape for ~30 secs (1cm away) and no marks (not really expected, just testing).

I may need a tutorial on opening and pot-modding :D

New Note: I just realized that my #2 unit is not dimmer -- its on-button is loose/faulty; I played with it (squeezing really hard, etc.) and found it to be just as bright when fully depressed. I rotated it 90deg and it seems to go full-on more easily now. However, this means I have a 2-power greenie for the same $19 price! :D

I have a laser that has a spring on BOTH ends !?!?!?

Dun dun... DUUUUHHHHH!!!! </dramatic music>

I figured most lasers were case-positive so I go on that. I'm a complete noob when it comes to flashlights though. :)

Got one of the beasts about a month ago but was not really impressed as I have three of these that are noticably brighter than the beast:
5mw Green Laser Pointer US Quick Shipping&Cheaper Price - eBay (item 180581797082 end time Dec-30-10 20:32:28 PST)

Just got these two from oLike and the green is VERY bright. Nice visible beam indoors The red is quite bright also.

1 x 200mW transformable green laser/adjustable (OLV6200) = $122.99
1 x Cute High power 300mW red laser troch/focusable (OL-CR-250) = $59.99

The red one can be defocused to make a 24" diameter circle at 25', which is kind of fun.

With the beast I got it would not go above 30mw when using the battery it came with and jumped up to 77mw with a full charged cr123

For me, brightness looks roughly the same with both the shipped Panasonic and the new Tenergy 900mAh's I got ... however, they say they will not be broken in until I run them down & recharge them 3-4 times. Trouble is, I have yet to run them down once.

sampson: you were right on the "good run time" -- it was only the inconsistent on/off button that was making me think they were running low; that, and perhaps the diode/heatsink warming up ... every time I think they're running low, I walk away for a few minutes, then come back, jiggle the power button, and they are as bright as ever.

How many minutes of on-time are you-all seeing from the batteries?

I got at least a good hour out of the BLUE battery.. and I haven't run down the second one (panasonic) yet. I got over an hour with the tenergy and have only gone one cycle so far. Most of this on time was 5-10 minute runs.

All of the cheap greens that I've seen, including this one, have intermittent output while warming. I was thinking I was having a power switch problem too.. but I'm about 100% sure at this point it's warming up when this is occurring. My '09 model wicked green has never displayed this behavior. The heat sinking on the Beast is pretty good too.. so when you turn it off it cools down real fast and again requires the short warm up for full power. I never have felt it overly warm even after 10 minutes; just barely over ambient temps. On all of my longer burns.. the Beast was very stable.

Has anyone seen the #100 super beast listed now? I'm wondering if its just pot modded. I should be getting my regular super beast tomorrow and the new #100 after the first of the new year. I'll report back with comparison shots when I receive the #100
