Hmm. Does anyone know can you use a 3.7v in these or would the 4.2v full charge be too much? I have an odd ball rechargeable 123A that's not being used for anything right now.

It's a $19 gamble. Curious minds would love to know.

What's the operating current, Mr. sampson?

I'm now curious myself, I will measure it this evening if the question hasn't been answered yet. I have run it from a 3.3V DC power supply (atx psu converted to bench psu) but didn't think to measure current. It appears that my 3.0V tenergy has arrived so I'll test that tonight if it has sufficient charge.. damn 3V charger is on back order til the 12th or so.

The 10440's that I ordered should be at my house also.. so I'll post an update about my 405nm shorty over in the $8 ebay blu-ray post. :yh:

OK. On my ATX Bench PSU - 3.3V Rail (measured @ 3.43V) - the current draw starts off at 320ma and creeps up to 350ma and stabilizes after around 60 seconds. These measurements were taken with the laser and room at 70F.

I also noticed that the output is unstable when powered at <2.6V.

I can report that the 3.0V Tenergy LI-ION RCR123A works well with this laser.

Sampson, congrats on the new addition. Has to be the most awesome experience a man can have. Nothing else compares. Enjoy him well!!!

I'm going to order one of these after Christmas but short of shoving in a fully charged 3.6v CR123A in and seeing if it fries the laser is there a way to test it?

You can be the first! :D Let us know how that turns out! Seriously though.. I think that it would work just fine. The guy that sells these is the same guy with the $8 405nm which has been tested up to 4.5V. The driver on both of these look to be of reasonable quality. I'd really be surprised if this didn't work out ok; kind of wish I would have ordered the 3.6V myself since I won't have a 3V charger for another week+.

I'm curious to know the IR amount. If you don't have an IR filter, try putting 532nm goggles between the laser and the LPM to measure the IR leakage.

I've been running mine at 4.2 volts with no problems so far. The beam on mine looks about the same as my 20mW pen so I imagine much of the power coming out is IR.

Also when I first tried to use mine (I bought 2 of them), they were still cold from sitting in the mail box and one of them did not work at all and the other one was barely showing a dot. After warming up they seem pretty equal in visibility.

Awesome! Good to know. Appreciate the info. Yea, I'm also interested in if this thing is IR filtered or not. I'm about ready to invest in an LPM and an IR filter for testing...

Thanks for the info. I think I may snag one now just incase they are gonna rocket up in price after the other auction ends.

I don't see why sellers can't tag a + $6 international shipping label on their listing...
Free to the states but they can't lob one across the border?
WTF over.

Well I just bought one. I got my other lasers 3 days after he shipped them but with Christmas and this lovely weather who knows when it'll arrive. I don't have any IR filters but my glasses from OEM are rated at OD3+ for 532 which should knock the amount of 532 hitting the LPM down to pretty much nothing unless they're waaaaaaay over spec. I'll report back once I have it.
