Ohh sweet can't wait too see what the Laserbee II says!

For anyone who hasn't seen it, this is the thread containing the graphs plotting the total/IR output of my 532nm Pen also from IQS. Its a Gem with a 108mW Peak and only ~17% IR:

LoL 110mW $8.00 Pointer from IQS

IQS rules lol.

Sal

I doubt this guy is the only seller on the planet that is selling this laser. It's not like he has some monopoly on the manufacturer. Even those pen ones he sells are the exact same that others are selling but he is getting ones with the pot turned up. Rayfoss and others have the same super beast looking host too. Some of them are selling them for twice as much, so I wouldn't doubt that they are the same laser and quality. But this ebay seller just seems to be beating all them at price is all. Which is why we all keep coming back. We are getting these same lasers at half the cost as we've seen elsewhere. Although yeah there is no way for sure to know for sure how alike they are unless someone buys some of them.

They could be the same but they could have entirely different modules. To say laser A is the same as laser X by just reading the description and because they look the same is foolish. The modules are interchangeable and the ratings are a joke so your claim was a guess at best. Its fine if you disagree, I just dont value information based on assumption.

Here are some LaserBee II plots from my Super Beast 100 done today. The first is another 60 second run and the second is a 60 second run filtered through 532 glasses to see how much IR gets to the thermopile. It was higher than I thought but still only about 20% of the total output. Not too bad for a sub $30 532.

Peak at 143mW then hovered around 140 for a while.

Peak IR was 28mW and averaged about 26mW.

Nice! Better than my Super Beast 006 @30% IR, 20% IR is excellent for an Ebayzer.

Newb question,

I own and use a pair of 445 and 532nm glasses, and haven't run any laser indoors without protection. (had to get that out of the way)

I also recently picked up a super #100 for myself, and one for my brother in FL.
He also said he's not going to turn it on indoors.
I've read on this forum, and Wickedlasers forum that it's harmless to view the beam if it's pointed into the night sky no matter how high the mw.

My question is, since cheap lasers don't have an IR filter, do you face some risk of being exposed even if the laser is pointed away from you into the sky?
I may have been wrong, but I told my brother that the IR beam is fairly collimated close to the visible beam. I told him that if you could see the infrared with your eyes, it would probably look like a flashlight beam radiating from the aperture. Is this true?

Isn't it cool how the IR wavelength when graphed always produces a linear function? Thats crazy. Then again, I'm a nerd. :p.

Most likely from the temperature of the crystal changing, thus affecting its efficiency.

EDIT: Holy god my super beast #100 going to be here tommorow, fast as fuck shipping! Too bad I dont have any 3.6v cr123s I only have 3.0v ones. Oh well, time to slam a few more beers and go to bed and awake to my laser in the mailbox!

Well it came and after warming up this thing has some oomph, too bad it suffers from being VERY temp sensitive. If its above or below a very specific point it has low output, but when you hit the sweet spot its very bright. Totally worth $28 or so.

Hey, Extremeodd
Maybe you could take some time if you get a chance and post a review with pictures?

There's a few of us that are waiting for ours as well and sometimes it's nice to see what we might be getting :)

Well heres a few pics, the top heatsink part unscrews revealing the module. The black bit in the middle of the module is the focusing lens, its really easy to break it loose to adjust focus. The battery is case positive if anyone was wondering. Also it wouldnt be too hard to unscrew the module to replace as well.

I have no clue on output but it appears to be on par with everyone elses, when its going full tilt (just the perfect crystal temp) it stings when shined on a black dot on my wrist and focused down it smokes a match but doesnt quite light it. Just about painful to look at the dot, no LPM but its brighter than the $8 green I got from the same guy.

Also the warning sticker says <100mw, this was placed over top of a sticker that said <5mw.

Haha, sweet man - Thanks for that. Pictures are worth 1000 words right?

I appreciate it :)

Haha, I hadn't noticed the sticker over the other one. Good catch extremeodd. Just a little nitpick here, but the lanyard will barely fit over a small child's hand. Not useful for much unless you're going to hang it up to store it.

You wont get much burning even when focused, this has a far focal point even without the lens. At 15ft with no lens the dot is only like 3-4in across, so the closest Ive found you can get the focal point is about 1-1.5ft from the aperture. Nice laser for the price, tempted to try and unscrew the module from the host but dont wanna break my new toy. Tempted to try and potmodding the "5mw" 2xAA I got from itemquickship now that I have this toy.
