I got in touch with Item Quick Ship and I have awesome news:

He said that he would sell the 100mw Super Beast for $25 to LPF members (you'll need to contact him directly).
Thank for the negotiating! :thanks::sold::takeit:

Nice job on that output plot. Any chance of seeing that for the Super Beast when you get it?

You will absolutely get to see the output plot of the Super #100 Green Laser Pointer 006 Signal when I get it. I'll test it with the CR123 3.0V primary that comes with it, an Energizer 123 Lithium Photo 3.0V, and a Juice CR123A 3.6V rechargeable to see what, if any difference there is.

Darn, I just ordered one for $28. Oh well, still a bargain! Thanks for getting the forum deal though.
Same here, I just ordered one of these. A little off topic, but what would be a good set of rechargeable batteries and charger for this laser?

I emailed the seller as well trying to setup a group buy but this way may be easier.

I ordered these

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-CR123A-LR123A..._Batteries&hash=item27b1acf33b#ht_2560wt_1139

2 batteries and charger for $7.18 shipped!

They have worked perfect for me. Obviously dont expect to get the 1800mAh claimed but they work just fine powering my 300mW LOC for hours as well as my regular superbeast.

Awesome.. You will enjoy it!

I had originally ordered the 3.0V Tenergy cells from Battery Junction but I recommend the 3.6V batteries now that we've pretty much fully characterized the Super Beast. BatteryJunction has both versions of the battery (cell) and suitable chargers. They are MY preferred battery vendor, though a little more expensive than some other options.. they also ship from the USA.

Thanks for the info on the LPF discount on these. I may contact him to see how long the offer is good for since it'll be at least one pay day before I can order one.

I'm sure he'll extend the offer as long has he has them in stock which seems to be stable. I'll PM you w/ his info now.

*EDIT

I just noticed a new email from him and he said that I could share his email address for support/questions/ordering info.

serveyouqueen@gmail.com

Just send him an email and he'll get you hooked up w/ ordering info ect.

Just received and metered my Super Beast Green 006 from LQS. With the Stock Battery, a Panasonic 3.0v primary, It peaked at 61mW, before finnally settling down at ~40mW. Fantastic!

Funny thing is I also ordered a regular pen-style 532nm ($8.00) too and metered that sucker with fresh duracell alkalines and WHAM! peaked at 110mW!!! then settles at around ~89-91mw. Crazy for an $8 pen. Heats up like crazy after 2-3 mins constant duty, and also...has a funny characteristic: Once the pen reaches about ~70mW and above it splits into TEM01 Mode. lol.

Item quick ship is like a box of chocolate lasers. You never know what your going to get....

Regards,

Sal

So I got to see the pale red light from my SB #6 last night. I was shooting it around the dark room before calling it a night when it suddenly went dim. :wtf: :can: Not wanting to look directly into it to confirm my suspicions I put a piece of paper up against it and looked at it from the side and sure enough cherry red dot. :yabbmad: Then I had a thought. and grabbed my DMM. Battery read 2.8v. Whoops! Popped in the 3v panasonic in and it roared back to life.

:lasergun:

I had to mentally :twak: myself when I realized i hadn't charged that battery since I got my SB #6. It also reminded me why I dislike using unprotected batteries whenever possible because 2.8v is really drained for a 3.6v LiIon.

Got my Super Beast #100 Green Laser Pointer 006 Signal W/CR123A USA from itemquickship today. Tested it with a rechargeable Juice 3.6V CR123A. Below is a plot from a 60 second run. Peak output was 142mW and it hovered around 130mW. Needless to say, I'm pleasantly surprised and very happy with this purchase.

My #100 (165mW peak) went dim-dot yesterday ...

I checked and the Tenergy battery showed 4.01v (that seems high). Of the 4 Tenergy batteries I have, only this one is showing high v -- the others show 3.86v after a charge.

I tried one of the other batteries, and it still dim-dots (it seems to flash on bright for < 1/4 sec, then is <2mW afterward).

Think I burned it out? How can I tell?
