I'm just looking for a cool, 5mw-ish (not opposed to more, but not needed) green laser that I don't have to worry about burning out.

I see laser glow has the Galileo. They're currently on back order.

Are there any similar models available out there that I don't have to shut off at 60 seconds?

I really like the idea of a fool proof laser.

if you get any 532nm laser that does not use a pen style host and is only 5wm it will or should run the batteries out long before it overheats, just stay away from pen type hosts. A 5mw green still has a decent IR diode that puts off heat, your host must be able to deal with it. Not to much, and if a pointer is really just 5mw it should be ok.

at 5mW you should be able to find plenty on ebay that are cheap enough to be considered disposable. Run them 'till they don't run no more! :p

Hah. Thanks, but I would really like to spend the money on something that will be quality and last a long time.

@TheReddish. What other 'hosts' should I look at? I don't mind if it's not a 'pen', just something portable.

I was asked a question much like yours recently.
And TBH although I have not seen one in person... I replied about this 200mW(prolly more like 100 or 150 but still...)

200mw 532nm Green Focus Handheld Laser Pointer

It shoud have a fairly long duty and short rest.
It takes the well liked 18650 batt.
Its focusable.
Ships free (add $2 for tracking--a good idea IMO)
and with promo code : happynewyear it is only ~ 22$usd
do not know ATM if it has an IR filter.
I do think they are in stock and by contacting Co. rep cherrylee here at LPF BEFORE you order- she MAY have an even better code and can help with SOME questons- she has great English and can do FB chat around 10 PM to 1 AM Central Time(lunch time there in China)
While not a throwaway price its still very inexpensive IMO. If it ever fails you will have a swell host.. plz let cherry know I sent you and if you get a good deal send her 'home office' some kind words about her. She is now our best way to get a good REKE 500RGB.

TY.................Len

Friend cherry here & at FB and 'like' her too.......d(*U*)b

I think he just wanted 5mw the, op said not opposed to more, but I am wondering if 200mw is within the same ballgame of laser as a 5mw. With 200mw he will have to buy goggles and be careful with it, 200mw of green is very bright for some :p 5-10mw you don't have to worry about laser issues that pop up around other ppl. :p, if your this is going to be a new hobby then grab the brightest laser you can get :p if you really need it to point at a blackboard or something stick with a low power. :tired: sorry if my post is confusing I cannot proof read it, to sleepy but cannot fall asleep for some reason,

I may end up with a reke500rgb, I need to learn how do make projetors and what better way is their than to take a decent priced one and rebuild it :p its a nice simple one, I learn best elbows deep :p I wonder if it has a middle finger mode :)

I've seen you chastise many people about hiding referral links in posts and not giving people the chance to opt out of following them. Maybe stick to what you preach?

You are completely correct. In fact I was just about the only person who didnt want people to ues referral links in posts. If you read back the old threads its very clear. I used to bitch people out all the time.

So we had a discussion and I was overturned. Since then I have bitch out no one about referral links in posts, just signatures.

Whats is the problem with me following the stated norm? Why should I limit myself when everyone else can do what they please? Thats not very smart. Its not that important that I have to carry a moral flag over.

That fact is that Jack is my friend. We have talked on and off the forum. The funny things is I signed up about a year ago or more, and to date I have a credit under $4. So its not that I'm pumping his site. Its the only place I know of that sells on-spec 5nW lasers for fair price.

You guys are funny. There is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much underhanded, backdoor dealing, bullchit, and dram going on everywhere, yet you chose this to call me out on.

Yay, I caught TJ being an epic hypocrite.

Fu*ckin spare me your petty moral down cast. You couldnt live a week bound by the rules I hold myself to. Next time you wave a finger at me it better be more than a stupid referral link to my friend's site.
