So I go to pop in the batteries for my 95mw greenie and nothing happens. All there is, is a small red light that the diode is emitting. I was using a lot yesterday and it was all good. Its not the batteries as they are fully charged. So what could cause this? (i'm assuming its fried)

For whatever reason the crystals are no longer in place, most likely out of alignment.

The Red light you are seeing is IR. While it may not look bright, you're actually probably seeing at least 200mW of IR, so whatever you do, DO NOT look into the laser.

Edit: Yes the laser is now basically useless.

How long were you trying?

Green lasers usually won't lase if they're chilled to some low temps. It's cold as hell this time of year (depending on where you are), but give it a minute or two to warm up, maybe it starts lazing.

Basically, I just put the battery in and then turned it off and tried that again throughout the day. I'll try to warm it up.

I have a green laser pen that will only emit IR sometimes. I just have to warm it up by hand and it starts working. Greens are very temperature sensitive.

Tried that and didn't work.

Damn, then I have no idea what could've happened. Are you 100% sure the batteries have adequate charge? Try another pair just to be sure?

I've had this happen. My guess is the crystals got too hot, and once they cooled off they shifted.

Granted it was with a green laser I basically tortured to death :p I left it running for about half an hour when really ~2 minutes was the max.

After the laser would only lase for about a minute before turning completely to IR. Eventually just IR output. Was quite a surprise to watch my LPM, see the power jump, and the dot turn larger/pink for the first time.

It runs on a single 16340. I have 2 3.7 volt and two 3 volt and none of them work. I've made sure they are charged. I've sold the host and dead module to a guy and I'm shipping it out tomorrow. I'll find another greenie to replace it sometime.
