ok now i rember doing resurch on this a wile ago when i ownd a leadlight but i was just wondering what are the signs of a dying green laser. the only one i could rember is it getting hotter faster becaus of the fact that when left on to long the ir heats up the glue in the mca and turns it kinda black then the black asorbs more light and it turns into a weeker hotter laser.

now the reason i am wondering this is becaus my dx200 is
A getting hotter quicker than it did when i first got it within about 1:30 min
switching between tem00 to tem 01 for the first 10seconds but letting off the button then pressing it again fixes it
umm thats all i have noticed now is their any other signs and am i just being worrysum over my laser and its relly ok or is it going to die soon? :'(

I don't think any damage to the optics would result in noticable warming of such a laser at all. The efficiency of the whole thing isn't that good to begin with, you supply over a watt of electric power to get 100 mW of light out at best.

Even if no light made it out at all, it'll only make a 10% difference from a thermal perspective. I doubt you'd notice that by just feeling its temperature.

The mode hopping however, is a sign that something is going wrong with your laser. In a DPSS this would have to be something in the solid state laser (not the pump diode), degradation of facets or glue.

DX lasers are very cheaply made lasers, it's part of why they're so cheap to buy, so failures will be more common with them. if you want a good, reliable, lasting pen sized high power green, you'll need to spend a bit more n get a nova X series, really. i hope your DX still gives you a decent amount of time to play around with it, though! :)
