class 3R laser it's perfectly safe for presentations and star gazing (as long as you're responsible - don't point it at eyes, planes, and vehicles).

So it depends do you plan on shinning it in a room with mirrors?
Its a good laser a bit high for the power but it sure looks sleek.

Yes, you need goggles. IMO you should not operate any laser without eye protection. Do you REALLY want to take any kind of chance when your(or someone else's) vision is whats at stake? would you not rather be too safe...than not safe enough?

Oh! and PS(edit)

Good luck with WL....their customer service is awful!and shipping ttimes can be lengthy! i speak from experience....(ordered my E3 in 2009......arrived in 2011) Personally....i would not order anything from them.

1. WL is one of the worst companies out there.
2. 5mW green lasers are usually over powered, so yes goggles.
3. Pot modding a laser will kill it.

For the reasons of the answers take a little time and do some reading here. check out the stickies, FAQ, and review board.

Good luck

they label it as a presenting laser and a a 3r rating but u still have to treat it with respect.
What are u using it for?
This is more for presenting a project more than a stunning visual effect.
Just a dot on a wall compared to a beam in the air.

that 5mw laser wont burn much of anything besides a hole in your pocket.
Now to talk about burning and only wanting to spend less than 30$ shipped to your door means you get ZERO quality.
Your looking for a high powered red laser maybe a green.
50mw ledshop green lasers was doing 75 after ir filter, only cost around 26$ shipped
a decent cheap red

Don't buy from wicked lasers. Even if it arrives it will most likely be a paper weight after a couple months.
