Hi I am new to this, I was looking on optotronics and found myself liking the RPL-165. I mostly want this laser to be able to burn tape, pop ballons, be visible in light and at night, at least 50 miles away. But I don't want to use glasses all the time

you are defffenatly going be able to burn with this laser and goggles are needed for burning always but for pointing at long range they arent needed. you could alo get one of the ppl lasers but they don't have rechargable batteries. the rpl165 deffenatly has over a 50 mile range. i to am interested on one of these rpl lasers they look great.

The RPL-165 will be a great burner (not to mension it will be great to show off with at night), it is a smaller unit but you would have a lump in your pocket if you put it there. But you really are gonna need gogles no matter what for up close burning. I don't use goggles when I am pointing at far away objects but staring at the dot won't be good for your eyes.

Hang on one second....

Why CAN'T you put on goggles ? If you can't - then I would not suggest getting anything above a 1mw red cat toy.

Hi Cukleti,
Well, you can't really carry the RPL around in your shirt pocket, but I carry them around easily all the time in my pants pocket. In fact, for some reason carrying one in your front pocket seems to attract the girls ;)

Just kidding about the girls, it's just that it's Friday night, the holiday weekend and I'm trying to be a joker.

so wait, i can get a 165mW, and it will burn the kid who sits a few seats in front of me in school, on the back of the neck?
seriously, i want a laser that wont only be visibly powerful, but then when a smart ass says "ive seen brighter" i can say "give me ur hand" and burn them. so should i try to scrounge for the money for a RPL-300, or get an RPL200?

I've had my RPL165 about a week ago, it really throws a sky beam and it is very high quality. You can see it in the review section.
You don't need glasses outside!
