I bought a cool laser on ebay, i think about 200mw. it said it would be 240mw.
The problem is, it got a heat filter, and i want to remove it.
It cant burn anything, but the beam is strong and visible.

SO what do you suggest i do to remove the filter?

Thanks, Borg Queen X.

Well, its not a 'heat' filter its an IR filter, though I see where you are going wrong.

But dont remove it ( there probably isnt one ), its an ebayser anyway it will be no where near 200mW, your lucky if your getting 50mW of green and maybe 100mW of IR, thats why it wont burn anything.

Your better buying from the more reliable companies, like nova or opto

if i compare this ebay laser with my true 50mw green laser of dealextreme, this ebay laser is really much better.
Only it wont burn... :(

It probably dont have no filter, and even if it did and you removed it it would make no effect to burning, its an eBayser theres no way that its actually 200mW.

There is no such thing as a 'heat filter'

Like diachi said, there are infrared filters. EVEN IF it does have an infrared filter, removing it MIGHT give you an extra 20mW, which isn't going to make any difference, especially because it will be unfocused infrared light.

Its from ebay, there's no chance its 200mW. There is no way to remove the 'heat' from a laser without reducing the light output as well. Even if it was 100mW it would burn things a bit. Hell 75mW should smoke plastic.

Bottom line... its a scam laser, and I hope you didn't spend too much money on it.  :(

Hell my 30mW laser can smoke / burn thin plastic bags !

Sorry but your lasers a crappy scam laser, if you didnt spend too much on it then thats not too bad, you could still get a laser from nova lasers for a really good, more expensive laser, or Deal Extreme if you want a cheap laser.

exactly... 30mw+ should be able to burn through, or at least make marks on plastic garbage bags.

She (or should I say 'they' for you star trek fans ;D) just bought an ebay scam laser...

i got a true 50mw green laser from dealextreme, burns anything black.
I got a ebay 240mw laser(not sure its 240mw) but the beam is much more brighter then the one of 50mw. But if i point it at something black, it wont start smoking.

The seller also said that it contained a filter.

Dont call something a ebayser. You just need to know what people to trust on that site, and know people who got experience with that seller.

Dont buy something of someone you dont know.

Now, can someone please tell me what to do to remove the filter?
Where it is located, how to open the laser, how to remove it?

by the way: the laser was 80 eurocents(about 1 dollar) becouse the startprice was only 40 cent :p

Heat filter does not exist. Infrared filters do. They block Infrared light.
Removing it will not increase burning power.
"ebayser" is a term we use to describe lasers that are sold on ebay. Normally, these lasers suck. There is no way a pen size laser can output 200mW of green. With current technology, that is nearly impossible to do and still have decent life.
Ebaysers claiming more than 50mW of power are likely crap.

But if you insist that it is more than 50mW, then try burning using a focusing lens. A laser won't burn if the beam diameter is too large.

Was about to mention that, if the beam diameter is really bad then it wont burn.

pen sized 200mw lasers do exist.

goto dealextreme and search for 200mw. many people got a 200mw there. minimal 150mw, maximum 250mw.
to bad you guys cant help me to let it burn, i know this one is more brighter compared to my 50mw laser.

Focus it with a lens, then see if it burns, if not then, then I cant help you any further.
