i found a video on youtube... and this guy took a normal (no heat at all) 5mw green laser and took a soldering iron and toutched a part on the circut and then put it together and it made the laser turn into a burning laser!!!

A) Youtube is full of crap
B) I'm sure it does work, perhaps for 2 or 3 minutes?

Seriously, if you want to burn stuff just take out the crystals and have yourself a ~100mW IR laser pen..

Hey,

There's also a video on YouTube that shows you how to power up your TV (ANY size- even plasma), using 2 - AAA batteries. And it's FULL of posts afterwards saying how well it worked, some saying they had to use two C batteries or a 9v, but the video showed it to be really easy! Obviously, it's a hoax - a study in how easy it is to manipulate people's beliefs with a good video and some after-commentary.

While there are some things that can be very effectively modified by simply shorting or removing a component designed to prevent it from operating to full capacity - if you see something interesting, RESEARCH IT FULLY AND CAREFULLY from INDEPENDENT SOURCES. Otherwise, you'll wind up getting duped, and out a wad of money which I'd guess you can't afford to lose.

YouTube is for entertainment first, and instruction only as a means to get you off your butt and checking into things that interest you.

I found this place from watching YouTube videos - proof that research pays. I made my very first successful burning diode laser as a direct result of proper research and follow up, and this is definitely the right place if you want to do the right thing for your laser project.

yeah thanks.... im getting low on cash and i was just wondering if i could do that.. but i guess not... thanks... im starting to build my circut now for my laser... and btw i found out about this site by a video on youtube

Green lasers have a mca or crystal assembly that turns the 808nm pump diode into 1062nm? I think and then from their into 532nm witch is green lazing light. Since the crystal assembly is only about 10-20% efficient it takes say a 100mw 808nm pump diode to provide 10mw of green laser light. when you take out the crystal assembly you are exposing the pure unfocused 808nm light witch is inferred and you cant see.... well you can see a dim red dot but if you look at it for longer than a blink of an eye you will slowly start to see that red dot turn black and you loose your vision and since its almost invisible you don’t have your blink reflex and your pupil actually dilates to obtain more light to see better making it even worse.
So it’s your gamble weather you want a cheep invisible laser that you could possibly go blind from because you can’t see the beam or the weak 5mw pointer you have

Yes it burns stuff good, i used to be able to light fireworks unsharpied matches and pop baloons from 20 ft until it died..sadness :'(

(OKay i just typed a huge replay and it messed up  now i got to type it again)

Well Theres many flashlights out there that you can use like these here...http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1181635652
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186966870
If you dont like those you can put it in your own box and dont have to worry about trying to fit everything into the flaslight, a project box from radioshack would be good just find one that fits, or you could make your own box, i made one out of the metel casing of an old vcr player i took apart. (bending the metel was not fun tho ;)) Once you get a good box next you want to get  a good battery, I prefer rechargable because they save alot of money, these eat batteries like crazy.  Some good batteries are 6v or 7.2v ni-mh rechargable racing packs (like the kind used for remote control cars) dont forget the charger too, dont get any one with more voltage or you will have to heatsink the lm317(explained later its in the driver)  Next you want to make the circuit for the laser here is one of the easiest and cheapest ones to build only costs about 4 dollors...http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1185701612

If you cant find a 100ohm pot or 25ohm or similar ones you can use a resistor, a 5ohm would be good put two 10ohms in parallel  (if you dont know what a resistor i would look up on then and schematics on google and learn how to read them, it will help alot to build the driver)  Or if you want to give it a little less power but be safer you can put two 1ohms in parallel then put them in series with the 5ohm giving you 5.5ohm and less current going to it.
If you bought the aixis and diode sperealty, like its not put in it already heres how you do that...http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1190209066
Look at the third post it is a good picture on how to install it.
Heres the final step, you need to get a tantalum capacitor (they absorb spikes faster then electrolytic) a 47uf 20v or higher would be perfect and make sure you solder it right onto the diode because if it disconects and reconects while still on it will kill the diode. But dont think about not including it because its still alot better to have it then not to.  Then you basicly just solder the wires from the ld onto the circuit and put it in the box and your done.  Oh and i forgot to include if you have a multimetter make sure you check the circuit before you attache the ld (laserdiode) to it. The voltage should be around 6v without a load and to put a load you can put about 4leds in parallel on it and you should get around 3v to it.
When you first turn it on your wondering if it will work and when it does its awsome and the first balloon you pop or match you light is so cool, its just a dot of light but it will ight matches, firworks or pop balloons..amazing.

Enjoy

(Lets hope it works this time..Im gona copy it incase it messes up so i dont have to type it agian :p)

i hate that. and best part is it doesnt happen when making small posts, no, it only happens when you type a huge post that you put a lot of time and effort into.
