Lol swimming with a laser:p. That's not what I wanted the waterproof ones for, I wanted them for the clicky button. What I want from my first "real" laser is:
less than 100 dollars
focusable
green 50 mW
clicky button
legal for importing to the us

Please tell me a laser that has all that, because if there is one, I cant find it.
Well, this:
100mW transformable green laser/adjustable [OLV6100] - $81.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

Focusable, 18650 battery, it's double the power you want (I presume that's better), but it's momentary button.

This :
100mW Ultrafire host portable green laser /outdoor hunting [OLUGL100] - $72.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products
Is clickly button but not focusable.

Not one 50mW laser is legal for importing to US anyhow. (I don't know but every >5mW is illegal, right?)

However, this:
New cute pocket Green laser 100mW /adjustable [OLCGL100] - $71.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products
Is focusable and clicky, there is also 50 mW variant:
New cute pocket Green laser 50mW /adjustable [OLCGL50] - $34.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

Though, IMHO, does not look as good as first two. Subjectively.

Heres a "clicky" 100mw laser thatis focusable too. You also save on shipping if you add the glasses. www.rayfoss.com

It seems like it fits your needs

Edit again lol: oh and look at that too! Its waterproof!

It does not say it's focusable but the end of the head looks like it... perhaps better to consult Faona about it, then speculate.

I don't think I'd take any laser under water, because "waterproof" today means it'll survive a few raindrops but dropping it in pool will most likely result in instant death...

Though I'd sure as hell like to dive 2 meters below and play around with 100+mW green laser - I just GOT TO see how that looks like.

I thought it was legal with certain safety measures? I'll have to look those up...

Also, I would much rather it be 50 mW. B/C it is my first, I don't want it to be more than 50 mW.

Thanks for the recomendations

Well, you can pick any of these:
Green laser : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

Though I'd reccomend the "Cute 50mW" one , it's focusable and it has a tail clicky, and it's only aroun $37 I think. You can buy more powerful ones after that , then.

Step by step, the best way to go :D

Oh i didn't see that it was not focusable

Let me take a look for you and see if i can find a laser within your budget.

As for legality it has to be certified by the FDA to be legal. (yes with the proper safety features)

Eudaimonium has suggested a good laser too. Seems perfect :)

Would the "cute" one from o-like be legal???
Technically no, but finding FDA approved all 5 safety feature laser is notoriously difficult. Try Laserglow Technologies , their stuff is FDA approved IIRC.

But you can ask O-like (Susie) to put 1mW warning sticker on your laser, instead of 50mW. That'll get it past customs.
You can also get the tailcap shipped seperately if you want, though that's an overkill beside the 1mW sticker.

I think I'm just going to get the rayfoss flx... Tricking customs sounds too sketchy for me. Is there any way i could "hack" it to make it a clicky button?

I couldn't tell you if you can hack your lasers tailcap. That's a question for another person and not me but I have not ever had issues with customs. They essentially trick customs anyways because when rayfoss sends a laser its marked as "flashlight sample or torch flashlight" something along those lines.

Either way whatever you choose you should be happy with it. You could also post in the buy/sell section. Its possible somebody might have a used laser they could sell you. Possibly in the us.

You are tricking the customs with whatever you take, even FLX.
You can disassemble the entire laser and take off the driver board and desolder the momentary button and place clicky in place of it.
Would be tough though.

And here, we do not "hack" stuff. Kipkay "hacks" stuff. See how he ended up.

Here, we do modifications and experiments. "Hacking" reffers to same but in computer and software part of some other hobby. Nothing to do with this one.

Yea that "modification" seems tough... I'll just stick to a rubber band:D
