hi
My new Rayfoss 250mW is just arrived.

the emission mode should be TEM00.
look at this photo please:
aaace.jpg

this is the dot @ 10 meters (32 feets).
is this a TEM00 dot?

another question is:
i have a techlaser infinity 95 (cni pen @ 95mW).
how can i discover if the rayfoss power is 250mW comparing the two beams ?
the rayfoss beem seem brighter but not so much. but it's true that the infinity beam is smaller near the aperture (so the beam is more focused).
i measured the input current of the rayfoss and of the cni pen.
rayfoss: 1.91A@4V=7.64W
cni: 0.35A@2.81V=0,9835W

i have reconsidered the output power of my new laser. i can make an hole in my mousepad in few seconds.

anyway i think the transverse mode is not tem00.
look at this new photo:
aaanv.jpg

the upper left dot is the infiniti 95.
the downer right dot is the rayfoss 250mW.

what do you think? is the tem11 mode a big issue?

many thanks for the answer :)

its in TEM 01 (i think... thats what the 2 dots means right) just look at the burn mark it left. does it start out looking like that? or does it change after youve been running it for awhile

Is it a fixed output laser?
How long do you run it? Does it look like that when cold? What about warmed up?
It's not the best for sure.
Hops are typical but if it looks like this after being run in an adjustment should be made.
Raising or lowering (always try lowering first) pump diode current usually brings it back to perfect TEM00.

The CNI power draw is very good! 350mA! Wow. The Rayfoss is a hog and probably needs to be turned down honestly. It sounds like the pump is over driving the crystals.

the laser works in this mode either it's cold or it's warm.
i own the laser since yesterday and i have never runned it for more than a minute.

How warm has it gotten? A minute is not long and it should not get noticeably warm in a minute. Try running it longer if that does not exceed the recommended duty cycle posted by the mfr. Sorry I don't know much about this vendor.

Does the beam shape change at all? If not, that is actually a good sign that it's stable and just needs a minor adjustment. The bad news is doing anything like this instantly voids your warranty and if you're not familiar with DPSS internals the chance of making it worse (meaning destroying the laser!) is very likely.

the duty cycle is 30-60 seconds on and 5-10 seconds off (approximately).
the beam shape doesn't change, it's stable but it work in tem11 mode (4 dots).
rayfoss is considered reliable in this forum.
i have mailed Faona asking her what to do.

i will post here any news
