I do not think that is possible with our small pointers we have....take a gander at the Experiments and mods section - it goes into some pretty good detail !

It can handle NO RAIN !!!!  You have to put it in a plastic zipper type bag, and make it completely waterprrof otherwise your laser will DIE !  OMG !!! EEEEK !  ;D

Seriously - treat it like it is made of sugar - if it gets wet, it will melt !  If any water gets inside it, it will most likely be history.  I stand under the cover of my garage to take lots of outside photos, so there is no chance of a sudden downpour ruining my babies !
damn that sucks... does it only go in through the top where the laser pointer comes out? or is there other openings too? if so, couldnt you just do what that one guy did? i cant find the topic now, but im sure youve seen it. he has a white cap over his with some sort of plastic between it. the white cap opens and closes

is it true that when you shine a laser up at the sky during a thunderstorm the lightning will follow down the beam and electrocute you :-?
Yes it is, sort like mother nature using Fiber Optics ;D

I looked into this a little more and it seems that the lasers for this often have peak powers in the Gigawatt range. The points made above still stand but hopefully that puts more of a number on it.

Yeah - not too many gigawatt pointers out there, I imagine...although if we give Laserglow enough time, I am certain they will market their "Mega nuke" laser pretty soon ! LOL

so.. about the post i made a few posts back. can the water only go thru the top where the laser comes out? or are there others places it can go thru? if so then cant a cap be put over the top to avoid this?

Taks a second and think about this - they are not made to be waterproof - so, any place on the laser itself that is not solid metal is going to give water the opportunity to enter the laser - the button, the aperature, the end cap or center seam - any place that there is a "joint" in the body- big time danger of entry !

Oh - it won't burn the bag, unless you let hte laser overheat....as long as you are using a clear baggie, you're golden !

I stretched a piece of plastic wrap over the tip tightly.

Worked great. Plastic was still there after about 15 min of fun.

If you put it in a clear bag then the light will shine through it like it will a peice of glass. Light needs to be absorbed by teh object in order to heat up and burn. Since the bag has no color it will not absorb any of the laser radioation or at least not enough to burn.

thanks, that makes sense. before all i was hearing was that "it works" and "doesnt burn" but i wasnt sure why lol
