Question about 2 lazerer.com lasers

I want to buy a 400mW 532nm laser from lazerer.com. I have narrowed it down to these 2 lasers

LZSK - 532nm 400mW Green Laser Pointer w/ Case + Goggles

LZCN - 532nm 400mW High Power Green Laser Pointer Separate Crystal

I would like to go with the silver one because it's a bit cheaper. But I prefer to have more heat sinking for my lasers. So my questions are as follows.
1. Do you think the difference in heat sinking is even going to matter at 400mW?
2.Do you even think one has more heat sinking than the other or is it the same mass just a slightly different shape?
3. If one does have better heat sinking than the other do you really think it is a $50 difference?

If anybody has any experience with either of these lasers I would like your input. Thanks :thanks:

EDIT- Also does anyone know about the IR filtering on these lasers. Is there even any? If so is there substantial leakage?

Bottom one looks identical to the DD firedragon lasers...

The heatsinking on these lasers does matter since the IR diode on them is quite powerful...

If you're ok with sticking to 1 minute duty cycle, imo the choice is clearly the top laser, since it waterproof, focusable, smaller, and cheaper.

If however you want to run your laser for 2-3 minutes at a time, than you're better of with the bottom one.

Yea the top one is the one we were talking about in another thread. The fact that it is focusable is also a big selling point for me. I don't really need to run it for more than a minute maybe a minute and 30 seconds at the most which I think it can definitely handle. You said you had the same one from O-Like but that you thought the one from lazerer was better right?

I would go with the one on top for the same reasons infinitus stated. I also like the sleeker look of the laser.

It all comes down to what feels like the better choice for you.

Well, IMO the only downside the laser has is that it warms up quickly... at least mine does.

IIRC honeyx bought one from lazerer and his, while on spec, doesn't seem to warm up anywhere near as fast...

Aside from that, not many people ordered these from lazerer yet, so hard to form an opinion on the model, but coming from him at least you know it will be on spec.

To be honest, the FireDragon line is exactly the line I WOULDN'T buy from Lazerer.

If you understand Lazerer's business model, you'll understand why this doesn't make any sense. They basically test and bin cheap chinese lasers. This is great when you're considering the purchase of a cheap chinese laser that typically comes in under-spec. If you buy it from Lazerer, you don't have to worry about not getting the advertised power.

But the same logic works against you when looking at a more expensive laser that typically comes in OVER-spec (like the FireDragons). If you buy it from Lazerer, you're much less likely to get an over-spec FireDragon, since they would have presumably binned that laser into a higher power category.

In other words, when uncertainty has a better probably of working AGAINST you, Lazerer is a good choice. But when uncertainty has a better probability of working in your favour, you're probably better off going with DD (or whomever their current equivalent is). This is especially the case when you consider that a 400mW FireDragon also costs more from Lazerer. You're removing most of the potential for an overspec unit, and you're also paying more. All you benefit from is removal of the less likely potential for an underspec FireDragon.

Buy the 500mW crown from o-like. Mine peaked at 731mW :eg:

Yes, but only if you ask your mommy first
It's a much crappier laser than the o-like waterproof one. Also because of the separate crystals, they may become misaligned in shipping from china. When you order it, make sure to tell them to subject it to "strong vibration or Punch" before they send it... also, ask them to label it "laser death-ray" on the customs declaration so it gets confiscated by customs and you get to go to jail (free of charge) for an illegal import.

Obviously ignorant questions and threadjacking are not cool. I hope you get :banned:

Go back to reading, and stop wasting our time n00b.!

Cool. 19 is a great age.
I hope you saw the humor in my post above. I wasn't trying to piss you off, just trying to educate you and entertain the older members (myself included).
If I were you I would get the power rock from o-like. They have recently made improvements to make it significantly better than the "stick" from lazerer.
Max-power is not everything. A lasers output stability and host durability are often more important than getting an extra 50mW of power.
