Hi everyone. I've been reading these forums for a few weeks now, learning about which lasers from which companies are in my price range.

I have settled on two. First is the 50mW from http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP1076.htm. I read the guide that was posted on here and it says that this laser is the best for your money.

The other one is 40-50mW from http://www.o-like.com/b2b_cpinfo.asp?id=908.
The thing that confuses me is that the LEDshoppe one says 1500 metres, but the O-like on says 10000 feet, which is around 3000m, double the distance.

So...which should I go for? The cheapest at $25, or o-like at $37.
I'm not really fussed about the distance, more about the quality. My previous lasers have all be £20 ones from Ebay, which lasted 1-2 months at most.

The distance thing is just to get people interested, there's no definite distance that the beam would travel .

The 50mW from LEDshoppe is supposed to be good. Not heard much about the O-Like one .

o-like has a very good reputation around here, from what I've read. They've got a representative here on LPF called Susie.

As diachi said, that distance statement is pure (nonsense) marketing.

Susie told me that she can guarantee output on the pen lasers, ledshoppe has had numerous lasers over spec, scope had one peak at 94mW :D So its up to you man.

0-like greens are good value and the output is often over-spec.
Suzie keeps you informed about what is happening with your order.

I bought the one from LEDShoppe. The only thing I am worried about is getting one that isn't as good as it should be. It's okay for you guys because you can test it.

Hey jt78963...
man... you make me laugh....

You ask about two vendors and the members here give you some advice
as to which vendor to purchase from... and you do the exact opposite....
(shaking head... walking away)

BTW... what does this mean....
It's okay for you guys because you can test it.

No....I asked which one I should get based on the quality. Diachi said that the LEDShoppe one is supposed to be good, so I went for that one because it is cheapest. I didn't ignore the other members, I just decided to go for the cheapest option.

And when I said that you can test it, I meant that I've read that people on here have a way of measuring the ouput, which I don't. Therefore Susie's guarantee that a laser bought from that company will be replaced if it is not behaving the way it should is useless for me, because I won't know any different.

Makes sense, I'm in a similar situation... have to read up on LEDShoppe.
