I think in a way it is the equivalent of what overclocking was back in the day...
Buy something cheap and beat components 5 times the value...I had a thunderbird 700 mHz CPU which with a then exotic water cooling system was happilly running at +1ghz 24/7, in those days a 1gig cpu was an extremelly expensive buy, atleast 6-7 times the value of my humble 700 mhz...made me happy , and I happily rubbed it in the nose of the people who shelled out for the 1g CPU, though this is not the case with lasers, I can see where everyone is coming from wanting to get as much bang for the buck
Part of the reason the L-B030 dims so badly is that it has very little heatsinking capabilities. The module can absorb a certain amount of heat, but it has no where to go once this happens. The is surrounded by plasitc which holds the heat in. I made an aluminum copy of the plastic piece for mine and it is much more stable now. Can be left on for several minutes no problem. Of course, now there is some other problem with it but that is another story altogether.
I think it has mode hope, tem01. I have some lens from a microscope that transform the laser into to a green flashlight, an magnificator . With that i can see the dot enlarged and i see an elipse.
When i start i see 2 dots merging to 1, so there it stay for 1 minute. Then it split with a 90angle rotation.
I just can see this with the lens, so why should i care with modehoping?? Or mine is very unnoticeable?? Without the lens i cant see the 2 dots, but i know when it hopes.
