Please Help? Please!

Well I just recently got a green laser from amazon called something like Military Adjustable Focus Green Laser, something like that, anyways I was burning through some electrical tape when all of a sudden when I shine it at a wall or something it has a dot like it should and than a big circle of little speckls and it looks horrible. Also when looking at the beam theres the beam and than a bigger aura of a beam around it. What is this, what causes and caused it, and how can I fix it? Please help! Thanks in advance.

How close were you to the tape?
Maybe you got some deposit (from the smoke) on your lens

Umm... the laser was directly on the tape, if it is this is there a way I can get the deposit off?

Yep. Thats the problem alright!

what you will need to do is get a Q-Tip or better yet a microfiber cloth and put a little lens cleaner on it (like what you use for glasses. Alcohol works too but you need high % above 90% as theres too much water/impurities in it otherwise). Then you will (with a GENTILE swipe) go across the lens with it and again with a dry Q-Tip/microfiber cloth.

Be VERY careful when doing this as you can scratch your lens. You might not be able to get the laser dot back to it's 100% but you should be able to clean it a good bit and be happy with it.

Hopefully you won't put it up to tape like you did again. and if you do... Now you know what happens and how to fix it :beer:
