Please help me decide on my first green laser.

Get the Nova X50. It will probably peak at around 70mw and it beats most of the others in terms of quality. The lyra is a nice beginners laser if you want something that you can safely mess around with. The optotronics pointer is also good, but it's the typical newwish style and they have some annoying flaws.
I haven't ever bought from O-like or skylasers so I can't comment on them.

thanks i figured that x50 would probably the best quality wise would that still be able to burn anything?

i would also suggest the lyra or x50, depending on what you want. the x50 would be able to pop balloons, and in case you didn't know, you get 5% off using coupon code warp5. but you might also want to think about spending a little more for the x75.

With a good X50 you should be able to melt through thin plastic and pop balloons. When focused it should light a match.

Also where are you based scarecrow1092?
Prop should find out if its cool to import straight from the company or
if theres a likelyhood that it will get seized before you even get to enjoy it. :'( :'( :'(

If he's in the USA it should be fine ordering the X50. I recently bought an X100 and it got to me without a problem.

I had couple seized over here in Aus so just maken sure he doesnt waste his money...haha

i'm located in oregon,us so idk if there is a customs band i found out through searching the forums that some companies wont sell anything over 5mw to the us. so idk if any of those companies are in us or not.

yer no worries, would just have to talk to members over in the US that have bought the type of laser you wish to get.
Prob be worth doing though.

I hate to hear about another member loosing their laser through it being seized, not a nice feeling. haha

With regards to the optotronics laser, what annoying flaws are you talking about? I read a review posted in that section of the forum and it seems that a very reputable member gave them a very favorable review.

I know you already answered my original question. And now i'm trying to decide between the x50 and the "65mw+" from optotronics.

On another note i was planning on getting a lens to aid in burning and possibly a line emitting one as well. is one brand better for lenses than the other?
By better i mean is one easier to install, use, switch out quickly,quality are they interchangeable with other lasers?

Basically the optotronics pointer is the typical newwish style that DX and many of the other sites sell. The difference is that the optotronics pointer is actually tested and will put out the specified output. Still that doesn't change the fact that the design in general has some problems which may eventually cause the laser to fail.

These are my main complaints about the Newwish penlasers.
1. No current regulation at all. With a new pair of batteries you'll only get a few minutes of full power and then the output will start to steadily drop as the battery output voltage falls. The X series penlasers have good current regulation and will provide steady power until the batteries fall bellow the point of regulation.
2. The newwish penlasers generally have a crappy/cheap button. Even if the laser is good you'll generally have problems with the push-button later on.
3. In terms of build quality the CNI penlasers>Newwish by far.
4. Imo the CNI pens just look better.

If you want to add lenses then get the X50. Nova even sells lenses just for that laser. With the optotronics pointer you'll need to find a way to mount the lens.

Thank you all i've decided to wait off a week or so and get a x75, the optics seem to be little to no fuss with mounting and availability.
