Greetings...

I was thinking about buying a laser from OXLASERS and was wondering if I could trust their advertised power. Then I found this report. On their website I do not see them using the "<" symbol, however the report below says the host's printed external label contains this symbol.

Ripoff Report | Oxlasers | Complaint Review: 732514

Does anyone know how it's possible they can sell a 200mw 532nm laser for $50.00 (free shipping) when apparently the cheapest 200mw module alone costs $40.00?

Thank you for your time,
Greg.

Well, i see that, and it doesn't seem good from his point of view..

But i've bought a 200mW red and a 200mW green from OXLasers, and i am more than satisfied.. I'm GUESSING that my green is around 150mW, but i don't know as i don't own a LPM. My red, well, i have no clue how many mW it could be.. But it burns like a boss when focused (of course), and beam is slightly visible in a room, when looking from behind at right angle, and at night it's pretty visible to me.. The green i bought is also burning well, the focus is not really focus, as in can only be set on infinity and then just focusing outwards.. :)

But to the price, i'm satisfied with what i got from them.. To me they were really nice, fast answers and good shipping. :)

Hello. I'm thinking those 200mw from OXlasers will measure about 50mw on an LPM. If their true output was anywhere near 200mw, it would be less than one third the price of any other portable laser available with that power. My understanding is that a 50mw properly focused laser will burn a match. But like you said, that's not a bad price for that power. I am very tempted to buy one. Have a great day.

I would guess the red may actually be 200mW or close to it, that isn't hard to get,
Green is probably something like 50mW-100mW

Never mind, I thought you said you had one...
If you have a multimeter, put it in 10A mode and measure the current at the tail cap.
We may have a better idea based on that.

I think that the burning ability is directly related to the power, someone please correct me if I am wrong, since thats what I have been thinking all along. Also having bought lasers from china for the past 3years, I have figured that they through in "zeroes" at the wrong spot, turning 100mW to 1000 and so on, but sometimes, like this 50mw 405nm blue violet laser pointer/focusable mini purpel laser burn matches - 5mw-99mw - Blue Laser Pointer - Laser Pointers Catalog - Blue, Red, Green Laser Pointer, Powerful Lasers - OXlasers China it is 50mW and it can burn. so even if it 200mW advertised, and it can burn it might aswell be a good 50mW instead of 200. Also sometime the wording is tricky, like it can be a 200mW capable diode, but it needs a better heat sink, better driver and so on, and the build on some of these is like impossible to disassemble to change parts without damaging anything. From this same seller, I have lying around like 10-15 green lasers, all with a 1000mW label but they must be focused precisely to burn a black match. as oposed to a real 1W blue, it can burn any match instantly. These prices might seem cheap, but these companies are making money off new people like me, who have practically no knowledge about lasers, and have not invested in a LPM. the advertising part, lighting a mrch by a laser beam just sounds really cool and makes people spend money. Since normally we think in watts for normal light bulbs and these power seem really small

1) better to ask which sellers are good in the opinion of vets here
2) if you would please add your location in your personal profile- you might get a PM from a local member that would be happy to meter for you for free.
3) Buy from a forum vet with good rep. < maybe this one should have been #1

I do not sell anything to members with nothing in their profile or those who come here for help without ever introducing themselves in the'Welcome' section or if they fail to put their true age in their profile too. I highly suggest being totally honest when filing out you profile- banning is a common practice for those who are ever dishonest for whatever reason.. good luck to you---hak

-* Thanks for doing that..
You are not alone up there= some fine members are from that area- +
and yes the chances these will be spec are none or less than none.

$168 is a fair price for a 200mW with IR filter and overspec-

so if yours makes that you did OK.

give us a link and we may be able to let you know what to expect.
+

One reason for us knowing you location is the laws there and the likelyhood of having any import issues

I HOPE they are not sending battteries in the same box as that is not good. When I send lasers to Canada the tailcap and batteries come in one box and the rest in another. There are many laser sellers and builders on your side of the bprder and your best bet is to always buy from local forum Vets- Like Jerry (Laserbee LPMs) and ARGlaser- who builds lasers and is currently also working on LPM For Sale. Jedi-rock and wannaburn(now JLSE) are also canada.--

hi, actually for $168 I received 5 lasers, not just 1, and all of them came with ultrafire batteries in the box. As for the laws, I have bought many lasers online they always come with batteries, only once at customs they were rejected and sent back. What I noticed was that those had no key on them and all of the lasers labelled over 5mW I have received all have keys. here is the link Wholesale - waterproof 1000mW focusable green laser pointer flashlight / burning laser torch BURN matches, Free shipping, $31.05-33.6/Piece | DHgate I talked to this seller and the seller reffered me to oxlasers website aswell but this website has a security system so if items are DOA, I have a way to get my money back. Now honestly I can logically report to them by sending them laser power meter readings if I can get them from a member here and if they are not 1000mW (ofcourse not) I would get my money back, but in my opinion the pwoer they provide 5pcs for $168 are pretty decent since it can light a match and fireworks when focused. What is your opinion for the lasers at this price. Seems good to play around with take one apart maybe.
