Hi
I've been messing about with 5mW lasers from gadget stores for ages but never had a Green powerful one & yet i want a pen shaped one for easy storage! I want it for fun of course, also for when i go hiking in the hills its good to detect if anything happens & my dad can use it as he does amateur astronomy.

I don't want to buy with dealextreme or Amazool or the other gadget shops in China & can't afford the prices of wickedlasers.com, dragonlasers.com or some of the others i have seen, no matter how good they look!

can someone help me as i'm wondering if these 2 sites i UK are legit or not!
The laser is a New Wish 200mW laser!

200mW True Green Laser Pointer Pen Black: Flashlights & Lasers - Green Lasers - 0034 - one-unlocked.co.uk Wholesales gadgets and electronics

200mW Green Laser Pointer Pen Black (star gazing pointer) [200mw green] - £66.35 : technologyplanet.co.uk

Can anyone say if these are good lasers as they are considerably cheaper than some places & if anyone is in uk, are they legit & the items are good quality?

Thanks

If you are just using it for astronomy, 30mW would be plenty. 100mW is definitely overkill.

Look here: http://www.ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP1075.htm
Only $20!

Also, Opto is the only place I have ever seen an up to spec new wish laser (the kind that splits in half). The first two sites I would bet 100mW or less, and in the same group as dealextreme.

I want to do the tricks like balloon bursting too & melting plastic & i assume with a 200mW at the price of £56 i'd get my moneys worth!
Do the lasers in my 1st post look authentic & will be all they say in the description!
What would be wrong with using a 200mW?

Those 2 sites seem very expensive & i'm on a budget in a way!

Wouldn't the 2 companies in UK in my 1st link be any good! They both say that they are tested & assume come in a box with one of those 'proof of test' sheets!

I'm wanting to buy in UK, howabout a focusable one?

So you don't think the ones in my 1st post are genuine 200mW & are 'New Wish' a bad make?

Is this a good laser with reliable mW reading & do they export to uk, customs etc?

Dusty, i'm a bit confused, do you not think the 200mW at £56 from 0ne-unlocked or the £66 from TechnologyPlanet are dodgy, i mean would you buy anything from there?

I'm wondering if O-like ship safely to UK & go through customs etc?

This is a good alternative

200mW Transformable focusable green laser£*>5~200mw green laser pointer£*>Laser&lighting products£*>www.0-like.com

I just wish they sold it in UK ?

I personaly would only buy from sites that other people on this forum had previous experiance with, for the reason that there are a lot of sites selling under spec lasers. some sites will knowingly sell lasers that are underspec because most of the people who buy from there are not likley to have a power meter to be able to test the output. so while i could not say for sure that those sites were dodgy, the price does seem a little too good if you see what I mean. If you want a laser that will be up to spec i would get it from o-like, rayfoss or even OdicForce if you wanted to buy in UK. I have no experiance with o-like, but many people on this forum do, and i am sure that there will be no problem with customs. I have ordered a 200mW focusable green laser from rayfoss, and i am still very happy with it. Their customer sevice is very good, and it will def get through customs as it was declared as 'lighting sample for engineers test - value $12' lol. Hope that helps...

EDIT: As randomlugia said, many of these new wish laser pointers are not up to spec, so you may want to get something slightly different, perhaps with adjustable focus, depending on your intended use.

Yes i know what you mean, its a shame there aren't many in the uk that are seemingly legit, only megagreen, megalaseruk & the one you say! & these don't have the nice looking lasers that the Chinese sites have!
I like this one
OdicForce Laser Emporium - Items - OdicForce Lasers Online Shop
at OdicForce, but they only have 47mW at the moment!

Megalaseruk say i'd be welcome to visit them & see them in action, but its miles away!

I think Rayfoss's site is down at the moment & has been for 2 days!

thanks, i'm stumped

I dont know what your price range is but this one on OdicForce would be pretty good...PowerCheck Laser: Focusing 100-150mW Green Laser - Class 3B Laser

It is the same style host as the one i ordered from rayfoss and i am very pleased with that one. other than that my advice would be to either order from o-like or wait for rayfoss to come back up. In the stickies at the top of the green laser section you should check out 'a guide to buying your first green laser' if you have not done so already...

Yes i do like that one, but is a little out of my price range, but i'm willing to spend a bit more for genuine mW reading!

I do like the Ancient laser v6 transformable & focusable one, that is nice & looks more genuine!

Is 100mw capable of lighting matches etc, can you with yours? & visible in daytime!

I'll look on rayfoss when its back, are they based in China too?

I guess its between the O-like one & the OdicForce one like yours.

The guy at one-unlocked in Scotland just mailed me & said that the reason the 200mW lasers are cheaper is because the come directly from the factory in China!! As opposed to via a dealer there!! What do you think, is that bull?

But, i am more swayed to O-Like & Rayfoss as people say here & yes, i looked at the '1st time buyer guide & will do so agan'

100mW is easily enough to light a match if you can focus the beam. As far as i am aware the new wish style unfocusable type will just about light a match with 100mW, but it will take a few seconds. The beam will be visible during the day also.

I have another green laser that is 50mW new wish style (bought from DX) that is visible during the day and looks amasing at night, i cant get it to light matches though.

Rayfoss is based in china also, so you will have to consider the time to ship from there. Regarding the 200mW green from the website you mentioned, The only way to be sure would be to buy it and test to see if it is up to spec, but im guessing you wouldnt want to take the risk...I still think it sounds slightly too good to be true though...

It does sound too good but all i've got to take the word of is some guy on an industrial estate!

The focusable one at 200mW is very appealing, also you can alter the length & i hear that O-Like are reliable. Do you think this one looks good?
200mW Transformable focusable green laser£>5~200mw green laser pointer£>Laser&lighting products£>www.0-like.com

Is Rayfoss site down with you too?

I emailed Odicforce about whether they will stock this soon
PowerCheck Laser: TOPLASER 301 ~50mW Laser - Class 3B Laser - Detailed item view - OdicForce Lasers Online Shop

So you reckon customs are ok? i emailed O-Like to ask if they successfully ship to UK.

cheers

The laser in the link looks to be fine, its really down to weather you like the look of the host(if that even matters, lol). I do like the fact that you can change it to fit different batteries.

I do not think customs will be a problem...if the package was labled '200mW green laser pointer' then they might confiscate it, but i know that rayfoss at least will lable it as something else so it gets through, and i am sure o-like will do the same. I have ordered 2 green lasers since joining the forum a few months ago, both from china, and they both got through without any problems.

One more thing I must add...make sure you allow money to buy safety goggles...this is very important as it would be very easy to catch a reflection, and these 200mW greens are powerful and can blind easily. Even if you end up getting a less powerful one, goggles are still very important. sorry to sound like a nagging nanny, lol, but safety first...;)

EDIT: Rayfoss is down for me too...has been for a coupe of days...it happens from time to time, not to worry though...
