160X Expander!!! :drool:
That would transform a 1.2mRad beam to just 7.5µRad! You wouldn't even notice it expanding.

Omg! Seems very crazy. Maybe I'll use somehow my JL 10X BE or DL 2X at least (there is also universal adapter, but maybe the host is too big for it). Or let's see what Jack sent me in optics package - if there are sufficient lens I might build some expanding aparatus using some PVC tubes. ;) I've just returned home, so I might spent some time with the Beautiful Beast this evening. But it is after rain with likelihood of raining, so I'm not sure about taking sky beam shots tonight.

I love low divergence, bought two of those special optics expanders, one at 20X, the other at 160X.... but it has a six inch output lens, so the input on the 160X cannot be more than about 1 mm. Because of that, it wouldn't work with that laser pointer very well, but the 20X one can take a large diameter input beam with its 6 inch output collimation lens.

To find a high quality beam expander for 532nm on ebay, search for a 1064 nm IR expander, they work at 532 nm too.

AR coatings for 1064 nm work at half the wavelength too; 532.

Since 1064 is divisible by 532, it should be as theory says (AR coating should use interference to reduce reflected light from optic element surface in the AR layer), but still isn't there something omitted in consideration? Something related to AR coating material used?

Well, I've looked at every coating I could find for 1064 nm and so far, they all had a dip at 532 nm too. There must be some coating which doesn't do that, but I haven't found it yet.

You've looked at Edmund Optics? It will work though a lot of light won't be transmitted.

I've puchasef s few 1064 nm expanders and used yhem at 532 without seeing more than expected losses with an LPM. Some expanders are sold as 1064/532. I will research this more, there surely are 1064 AR coatings which aren't dual, got to be.

The YAG-BBAR coating has an absolute reflectance for 532nm and 1064nm of less than 0.25%. Is that what you are talking about?

I didn't look, Edmunds makes a AR coating good for 1064 nm which is bad at 532 nm?

Edit: There are so many different types of AR coating I bet some won't be dual, but here is an example of one which is:

I haven't found a 1064 nm on ebay yet which won't efficiently AR both wavelengths yet, maybe I've just been lucky.

I'd like to see what your 20X could do with a corrected 44 ?
