I thought I would just chime in and say I just purchased($808.32) an RPL-225 from Jack at Optotronics. The site says the mwattage is 226-265 with a peak of 300. Jack said it should give me about 250 most of the time. I also ordered some safety glasses and certification. Jack gave me a well appreciated 7.5% discount for being a forum member. And to think I was so close to buying from Nova, the X-175 for $525. I got good vibes from what I saw and read at his site and others about Optotronics. Come on next Tuesday!! I may have to take the day off on Wednesday!!

Why didn't you get the 2.5% for being banned at LC? Just post "WickedLasers is teh suck" and bang, you have a 10% discount all up.

That was discontinued. I asked about it when buying my blue rpl.

nice choice! the RPL-225 is still worth every penny all day long!
i guess i was lucky, getting a 44mw blue for the price of a 30mw, + a 55mw greenie and international shipping works out alot better than 10%.

I've been checking out blue laser diodes for sale. 20mw for $80, etc. And instructions on how to put them together. I'm wondering if I can pull it off and save a bunch of money making my own blue ray laser.

Blue laser diodes cost $8000 or so right now IIRC. Now Blu-ray diodes that are actually violet cost around $30 now. There are instructions on building these things all over these forums, just go to the experiments and mods section.

Congratulations brother!  That was my latest big buy!  I love my RPL 225.  Of coarse, Razako just got a Herc that makes our rpls look like DX 30's, (you can NEVER get enough power!) but I absolutely love my RPL.  Optotronics are my favorite so far, excellent service, excellent products at good prices.  Mine peaked at 255mW and adveraged at 248mW. Don't forgit to post a review sharing with all of us your new excitement.  I remember how happy I was when I first opened the package.  I get happy every time I open the case and put on my goggles.... Now I'm saving for the blue-30.  :D

Seems with some education, cash and hard work we can make our own killer blue for under$600.
