optotronics Premium +100mW Green Laser

I am thinking of making my first serious laser investment. i have bought a few off of ebay. one was a waterproof one that i use diving, 3 are green ones (broke 2 trying to pot mod them) and one blue one. but anyway i want to invest in a good laser something that i can see the beam yet its not going to break the bank. i live in New Jersey with light pollution so i need something that is powerful enough to be seen through the street lights. so my question is what do you think of the optotronics Premium +100mW Green Laser? will i be able to see the beam and is this a good deal? also do they ship to the USA and how long do they take. i have read that wicked takes years (not really) and someother places do not ship to the USA. so what is your take on this?

My 50mW Green is visible with street lights, so your 100mW will do great! And if it doesn't, just turn off the street light for a minute with it. Now who said lasers weren't useful?!

Hi Jim,
We're located in the states and they are shipped the next business day if the order is placed before 6:00pm mountain time. If standard priority mail shipping is selected, delivery takes 2-3 days (usually 2 days).
Beam visibility is determined mostly by the particulate matter in the air. The cleaner and less humid the air, the less the beam will be visible. This is because what you see when you see the beam, is the photons that are being reflected sideways towards you. So power is much less a factor than the air itself. For instance if you had a 5 watt green laser and used it in an electronics manufacturing clean room where the air is super clean and filtered; you will not see any beam going through the air even in total darkness (yes, I've done this with a 5 Watt system a few years back), on the other hand in very dirty air or fog, even a 5 mw or less will produce a visible beam.
