Hi I want to get this laser module and install it in a waterproof host. Individual High Power Bin Green Laser Module V2 - Detailed item view - OdicForce Lasers Online Shop
This laser seems surprisingly cheap, I have bought many times from odic force and is very good but is it true? 120mW for £38? Is there a review? Tell me your thoughts! EDIT: I was looking at the dealextreme 200mW module and they look the same. Here is a review of the DX one http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/review-dx-200mw-green-modules-45010.html#post601127 do you think it is the same?

Also it recommends no more than 3.6v, you could use a CR123 battery but when fully charged that it 4v. I then thought using a CR2 battery, this is normally 3v but when fully charged us 3.6v. What battery do you think?

Thanks - sorry for any grammar mistakes, written on iPod :)

It seems realistic to me. Odicforce is a reputable shop, and it looks like they have binned these modules to their actual measured output power. It could be that they were rated '200 mW' originally, and have been re-labeled according to the units individual performance. This is a good practice if you ask me, as you know what you are ordering.

As for the price point: GBP 38 is about $60, which is quite fair for this power level, and better value than most vendors that guarantee a 100 or 120 mW minimum performance level. I wonder if they are standard 12 mm size though, can't really tell from the picture.

They also look like they come with leads and no spring, so you may have to do some modification to fit it into one of the Rayfoss (waterproof) hosts.
DX 532 modules are crap (never up to spec, rarely steady power).

Do you think this is a DX module then? I was thinking maybe i should go for the o-like 100mw green module? Have you heard anything good about that module?
Which module?

EDIT: I have just seen this module: http://www.o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=17 It looks a great price. Anybody ever bought this before, does anyone know anything about this module. 200mW for £58. Not bad at all.

i have a O-like 200mW module (old model, no threadings infront) which does around 180-190mW verry nice beam and pretty stable after 3 sec, also got a 150mW module with even better beam and it does around 170-180mW gets stable after 5 sec if its cold.

also have one of those "200mW" DX modules does about 110mW and jumps all the time from high to low and it has slight artifacts around the dot for some reason.

so DX modules = no
o-like = yes
odic = i dont know:p

forgot to add, my measurements were including IR

I will probably go for the 200mw o-like, @Xtrm2Rick you said you bought the o-like 200mW old model, do you need an extra heatsink? And can you recommend a good host for it.

Thanks

Oh yes, i have bought lots off him too, and he has answered all my questions very quickly. I just want a powerful good quality laser module, the module off odicforce looks the same from DX, the DX power does change a lot. I am stuck between the 120mw green from odic force and 200mw from o-like. What do you you think i should get?

If you are in a hurry get the 120mW Odic one, you can always email Odic force and see if they have any with spring-connections and no power button.

If you aren't in a hurry (and don't mind waiting 3-4 weeks) order the o-like one, they are usually very close to the specified power.

well the 200mW module gets warm after some use so i do recommend a heatsink or a decent host, i got mine in a "mini rpl" host made by Ehgemus got it like a year now and i still love it just got to buff it up now and then, the cheap hosts from rayfoss do an awesome job to for its price

also be aware that if you get a host with tail clicky you will either have tio make simple solder/wire bridges across the button on the module driver or glue/tape it on the "on" position,i do recommend going with the solder/wire bridges though.

and like others said before, odic has been here for a while to and i never heard bad things about him/her/them so i wouldnt worry when ordering from odic:)

o these where the rayfoss hosts i ment http://www.rayfoss.com/productn.asp?ArticleID=85
