I'm looking at the two green 200mW lasers that o-like is currently selling.

the "cute":
New cute pocket Green laser 200mW /adjustable [OLCGL200] - $120.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

the transformable:
200mW transformable green laser/adjustable [OLV6200] - $122.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

i just bought the cute style 250mW red laser and i found the focus ring to be loose and a little rough to twist. i was wondering if the transformable laser is any better than the cute one. i really like the "cute's" style and size but if the transformable has a better focus ring then i'd rather buy that for $2 more. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks :)

so i messaged susie and she said that they recommend the transformable one because the focus is better on it and she also told me that they could install a tight focus (fixed focus) ring on the cute style. I have asked her what the beam divergence would be for the fixed focus lens and i am currently waiting a reply.

I just bought the transformable one and I'm very happy with it. Although I don't have a laser meter, the beam is very powerful and can be accurately focused. I'm using it as a pointer for astronomy.

These are the 2 I'm also considering, haven't decided on power yet. Is there any quality difference between the two? Is one more fragile than the other? My main use will be astronomy.

Thank

what susie told me is that they are the same but the transformable has a better focus ring. my 250mW red "cute" style's focus ring is a little loose (i'm guessing all of the "cute" models will be). she also told me that she can install a fixed focus in the cute model if you ask her beforehand. another difference (besides the host) that i can see is the transformable has a momentary on button while the cute has a click button on the bottom for continuous-on.

Hi David,

I recently received the O-like 200mW 532nm adjustable/transformable laser as well as the 300mW 650nm Cute laser. I can report that the focusing rings on both lasers are tight and capable of focusing the laser beams to very tiny dots. The clicky switch on the Cute is nice, but I'd be leery of that type of switch on a 532nm DPSS laser. The single-diode red laser is more tolerant of long-duration duty cycles, and I'd hate to burn out that nice 532nm laser because of abuse. That being told, you can't go wrong with either one. I hope you can recover from your unexpected computer expense soon and go back to enjoying this hobby!

Yep, I love my new laptop though so it's all good. I won't recover until this summer when my job starts up again. Also, I had the 250mW cute and the focus ring was loose (explained in my review of it - see signature). I should be receiving a replacement 300mW model sometime this week and hopefully it will have a better focusing ring on it. I currently have a rayfoss greenie so that should hold me through until I can get a better one. Needless to say, I'm pretty happy with my current collection (especially my 1.4W 445 :) ) so I might save up for a better green than that but I haven't really made up my mind yet. I have enough time to think about it though.
