hi guys,

new here, i bought a X100 from Novalasers (review following soon). before i get started i wanted to know if i can use NiMH rechargeable with it? Novalasers states in the manual that only alkaline batteries should be used. i have some good AAA 1000mAh NiMH and if possible i like to use them. could the diode be damaged by using anything else than alkaline? obviously the voltage is not going to do any harm (power output probably goes down though...), but is there anything else that i should spend attention to? thanks.

This question was asked a lot when Nova was very popular. NiMH batteries will be fine. I even asked Nova myself when I purchased an X105 (now the X100) some years ago. A fully charged set of NiMHs will provide just as much power as 1.5V alkalines and longer life.

Enjoy your laser and be safe.

hi RA_pierce,

thanks for your answer. as for being safe... anyone who treats a 100mW laser different than a loaded gun is a fool.

Heh, you'd be surprised at the amount of stupidity that lurks on these forums alone. Anyhow, welcome to the forums. I'll be looking forward to your review, and what RA_Pierce said was dead on.
