Well, I just purchased a 1.2w blue laser off a member of the site.

But I'm told a green laser beam is the easiest to see, and I had a 20mW green one a few months back, i could see it at night, but it wasn't amazing.

I figured I'd ask the community what would be best for me.

I want a high powered green laser, but I want to build it myself. I know I can google a host and diode, but I will get ripped off or buy some piece of shit.

So what I'm asking is, what diode and driver would I want if I want a super bright green beam during the day (if possible)? Also, what host would be the best (most durable)?

EDIT: I will be purchasing the safety glasses for the 532nm wave, when I purchase the diode.

Thank you,
-Matt Farrington

There is no 532nm diodes... But you can buy green laser module (~150mw) from o-like or dealextreme
It is hard to build own +200mw green laser.

If one did plan to do build that, would it be cheaper and safer just to buy a whole pre-made unit?
I keep wanting to find a 300mw+ module and heatsink it for a lab. Any advice?

Ive been looking to do the same thing actually, But from what I have heard it seems as though it would be extremely difficult. I haven't seen any 300mw+ modules, so you'd have to create your own. which is nigh near impossible.

anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :)

the brightest beam your gonna get in a reasonably priced handheld is gonna be ~400-600mw 532nm. But its not going to be real thick solid beam.
Ive heard a very overspec laser bought recently hit over 1w of green, that would be very bright but still not quite solid. (price was pretty high on that one though)
To get a nice thick solid beam your gonna need a very powerful lab, in which you'll have to spend over 5000$ on.
the brightness completely depends on your budget.
Good luck.

You will need a 8 watt green laser aka have fun with your dreams about lases and start with A 5 mW

Beam of 2 Watt green laser is pretty visible at day time ;)

Also Styropyro sells those modules for $1350

Yeah I was actually thinking of buying one of those from him. But I don't know yet, it would take me a while to get that much cash.
definitely Best bang for your buck with that.

Depends on what quality you want.
Im done with chinese any brand.
Wannabuen is making my next laser, ive never wanted to own what anyone can own.
Add a two year warranty and a quality build from a great builder and it cant be beat.

Just FYI O-like carries a pretty good quality 200mW module. I built a laser for a friend and it consistently hit 235mW @ 220mW avg.
