Nichia NDG7475 1W 520nm Laser Diode

Exciting day. Finally got my 1W Green diodes and could not wait to do some testing on them.:eg:

This 9mm diode has off center pins.

First thing I did is pop one in a sink and fire it up. Was amazed the brightness of the beam indoors during the day. Really bright.

This diode with the G-2 has a pretty identical box reflection that the 9mm 445nm does.

So next I decided to put them head to head and @ 25 Feet they were both about 30mm with a G-2.

So now on to the meat here is the LPM test of the diode. Test is done with a G-2 lens.

There you have it. Whole lot of of Green goodness. Oh and for some dark shots.

Was worth staying up (2:30 am here) :shhh:

Now let´s see what their max. operating current is

So based on these tests, what are you going to package the diode and driver set to  1.65A, 1.8A?

good work on the post ! they look gut like the new 9mm diodes, I have same hole on the back.

Thank you Jordan....Great quick First look !!!!!! My prediction is that one will get the tightest, closest to a far field spot with a pair of Anamorphic Prisms for correction coupled with the O-like 1/2 threaded glass lens. See attached concept drawing - " Green Extreme V1 "

It is great that the far field spot is as good as the 9mm 445. Perhaps, ANY correction is marginally useful. Guess it depends on your expectations.

I will build the " Green Extreme V1 ".....eventually !!!

I will also predict a farfield geometry of 16mm wide x 13mm tall at 50 feet (15.3M )...with /OO\....." Corrective Glasses "...based on my trials with the " Tridentis "

Thanx again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmm that phantom square. Why the heck does that even happen? I understand its the G lens and it focuses all of the diode's output rather than the optimal section of it...

But 1.5W... I can see quite a few people running them in the 2.8-3A range.

A GB/M build with this and a 9mm 445 would be a sight to see. 3-4W of magenta :)

I like that. I like that very much. This will be easy to correct.

Thank you for sharing DTR :)

Nice pics! :gj:
What divergence would you guys expect with optimum correction for the NGD?

 Gotta get myself one of those. Just gotta wait till the price drops. Imagine if these were as efficient as the 9mm 445nm diodes. 2.5W+ of green goodness.
