i just thought of a brilliant idea...why dont you just contact her through another email? first, ask her if refunds/exchanges/repairs/etc. are possible after purchase. (in your situation, past 90 days)ask as if you were just a curious random guy looking to buy rayfoss lasers, she wont know its you unless you tell her. THEN, tell her that it is you, cjrhoades, and that your emails have been neglected. if you get ignored on your first email doing this, then you're probably doing something wrong. and it doesn't hurt to be extra polite, if you want your money back. gl.

So... what you're saying is, I should create a new email address and try contacting her, then when she responds, reveal that I'm who I am and confront her about the ignored emails?

well if you only have one email address, you obviously have to make another one for her to not know its you. you dont have to reveal yourself if you dont want to. i just suggest that you try and see if your new emails still get ignored. chances are, it wont. and if u ever want to speak with her again, u might as well squeeze out all the information u can while she doesnt know it's you. so you will understand how the system works. (rayfoss doesn't actually have any legitamite warranty policies. which is nice, because you can always ask for a replacement, or maybe even a refund.)

If you believe that you have shown Faona that you are a nice customer, you could reveal yourself, and tell her your situation. if you get ignored after you reveal yourself, clearly, you said something to piss her off (i wouldn't be surprised), which leads her to ignore in the first place. im not going to assume, but if you did say something irrational ("threatening her for a dispute"?), you NEED to apologize when you reveal yourself. im sure if you are extra nice while talking to her in your new email address, AFTER you tell her that it's you, she will do something about your broken laser. i can almost guarantee. ONCE AGAIN, (rayfoss doesn't actually have any legitimate warranty policies. which is nice, because you can always ask for replacement, maybe even a refund.) if you think it's reasonable.

contacting her with a new email was just an idea, how you deal with this situation is up to YOU. im just trying to help.

I did threaten to file a dispute (though I did so politely) because I never got a tracking number and had multiple emails asking for one ignored. I have other email addresses but they're all the same before the @whatever.com so I guess I'll be creating a new one.

What I don't get is why you're telling me to apologize. I didn't do anything wrong here. She sent me a bum laser so shouldn't I be the one being apologized to?

well, im curious, how long did you wait for a tracking number before you threatened to file a dispute? because im waiting for my tracking number too, so far it's only been one day.

I waited 2 weeks.

and you got your laser on the third week?

i was on youtube looking at 100mw green lasers and comparing them with the picture you posted. i guess your beam is dimmer, but the dot that i see in your both your picture looks like 100mw.. have you tried burning stuff with it? does it "feel" like a 100mw? you'd be able to tell if you had another laser, but u can compare with videos on youtube. compare how long it takes to light a match or cut duct tape.

its pretty hard to tell if you only have your ipod touch for pics. but i hope u can get into contact with faona. maybe post your conversation here, and let us help you?

you didnt pay with your credit/debit card did you? she didnt accept mine because she said its going to take 10-15 days for her to recieve the payment. and she usually ships the parcel within 24 hours after she recieves the payment. this could be why you waited two weeks for the tracking number.

i had to use paypal for my purchase, it takes 2-3 days for the money to get to her. so im expecting my tracking number in about 4 more days.

The beam that you're seeing in that picture lasts all of 10 seconds. Then it goes away. Completely.

I've used a sharpie to put a dot on balloons and my hand. It won't light a match, pop a balloon, do anything to electrical tape, nothing. I'd say its output is maybe at the most 30mw, but only for a few seconds. After about 30 seconds of being on it's more like 1mw if not less because the beam is completely invisible even in a pitch black room.

@CJRhoades

I reread your original message, and have a few questions. You mentioned that you put in the included 16340, however this laser (I have a similar one from o-like) uses 1 CR2 or 1 18650 battery.

To be honest looking over the information again, I think your issue might be strictly with the batteries/charger. Rayfoss (and all cheap sites) include cheap chargers. I've had two that always show green in 5-10 minutes, but don't actually charge the battery.

You can purchase a meter at radio shack or any electronics store to check if the batteries are charged or not (max voltage should be 4.2 although laser should work just fine anywhere between 3 and 4.2). If you're careful you can probably even return the meter back to the sotre;)

Please make sure that the charger is working properly, and maybe try a different battery altogether.

If you already went through these steps than proceed as mikeshrimp advises. I really don't see her ignoring you unless you did something to piss her off. Either way keep posting results and good luck.

P.S. - Post the emails that you sent to her, I'd like to see if there is anything at all which is questionable.

P.P.S. - Ordering from china, without express shipping, you really shouldn't even expect an item in less than a month. If it gets to you faster, great, but I've had packages take a month and a half to two months plenty of times.

At first I really did think it was the batteries but then I thought, if the batteries aren't charged, when I turn on the laser, it would do the thing where it starts strong and dims out just once right? Because then the battery would be completely depleted.

But, I can turn it on, it'll start out strong and dim to nothing, wait 5 minutes, and then do it again. I've done it about 10 times on the same battery and it always starts the same. It seems to me that the battery is charged.

I guess I can get a multimeter and see what's really going on.

Not sure what would be easier, trying another battery/charger or testing with a multimeter.

I've had similar experience with green laser though where the beam started out very strong, but dimmed and died very quickly. Never managed to fix it, but in that case it wasn't the battery.

Just want to make sure all bases are covered. A weak near depleted battery that's not being charged, or not charged enough could produce same exact effect...

She responded to the email I sent from a different address.

sweet. now start asking her as if you were just curious. ask her if it's possible to get refunds/repairs/exchanges/etc after 90 days...word your question differently from mine. and be extra polite as if she's the customer, and you're the seller.

or, you can take the fast road down and reveal yourself straight up, apologize that you threatened her for a dispute earlier on. you probably werent aware that it was goign to take her 2 weeks to recieve the money from your credit/debit card. and she doesnt give out the tracking number until she recieves the money EDIT: she doesnt ship the laser until she recieves the money, therefore she wont give the tracking number until she recieves the money. this is probably why you grew impatient and threatened her. if i were in your position before you threatened, i would have just politely asked if she recieved my money yet, and when she might be able to give me the tracking number.

whatever you do, i just hope your problem gets resolved.

i feel like im playing one of those rpg games lol. fallout or oblivion.

Here's the logs from both emails: (read it bottom to top)

Code:
Thank you for the information Faona. The laser I received from you doesn't appear to be working correctly so I'd like to send it back for a replacement or a full refund. Where shall I send it?

My order number is 1297667236 for 1 pcs RF532-100mW-B03+battery+charge+shipping.

Thanks,
Christian Rhoades

Hello! I have a quick question for you. If I were to buy and receive a laser from you that is faulty, what is your policy for returning it for a refund or getting it replaced.

As you can see, I just sorta snuck my name in at the bottom of the email I sent back so we'll see what happens. It actually hasn't been 90 days yet so it should be covered. I'm just gonna pretend she never ignored my earlier emails.

Not sure if sneaking anything is the right way to go.. but it's done. Let's see if she replies, if she does, be polite, but also try to explain the situation in more detail.

Did you get a chance to test the batteries btw?
