i love it since it's my first 520 build, but unfortunately it's not outputting as much power as I wanted and I'm not sure why, it's showing around 34mw on 3E and about 44mw on a G2? I was hoping for at least 50mw on 3E but it really doesn't matter cause it's still beautiful! :)

Also a Question regarding the NUGM02 diode. I can't seem to find the Max Suggested current anywhere, does anyone know? I guess I could have asked Jordan. Thanks everyone.

Hi,
Nice first 520 in a small compact host, Don't worry about the output the WL is what its all about pal. Very well done eventually you will upgrade to a more powerful 520, The NDG700 is a great diode but you will need a larger heat sink to take care of the heat .

On DTR's sight after 2A the M02 520 increase is very slim and seems to start folding back as it hits to 2.2+A. I wouldn't run more than 2A..
Richie, my M02 520 is at 1.8A and it still runs very hot.
Nice PL520 build buddie:beer:

I will have to say that I love this wavelength so much that's why I wanted to build a lower powered one than my 180mw 520 which I can't seem to find anyways, god I hope I didn't leave it behind when I moved :(
Yeah I was actually just thinking of buying a higher output one like the NDG but I was kinda interested in the NUGM02 but I can't seem to find much info regarding specs on it :(

Nice build...
Have you measured the actual current
going to the LD ??

Jerry
Actually no jerry I haven't but I have a feeling it's less than I thought. It seems like it's in the 150ma range but I can't know for sure.

Site says max 250ma. Nano drive low is 275. Maybe pushing in to the fold over.

Okay that's great. I had my mind almost set on the M02 because it's only 110 bucks and I can't afford a 170 dollar diode at the moment :(
I may go for it and run it at the 1.5a
It's case pin Not used?
Thanks by the way :)

Also, what WL are the lenses coated for?

I actually wondered that myself. The one I'm using now was a lens that came with a 445 build from Razako and the other is also a 405/445 from my 450 build. I figured the G2 was for pretty much all wavelengths

Hi the 02 has a factory lens and can not be focused with a regular lens. in order to do some it must be decaned and that depreciates the life of the diode and makes it vulnerable to dirt and dust on the emitters . You have to be careful with open cans. But over all the 02 is a great diode and the divergence isn't to bad with the factory lens.

Funny you mention that because I'm still to this day convinced that's how my mits500 died because it was open can and I kept taking the lens off, don't really know why I did but I paid the price when it died almost instantly once I took it off that last time :( I actually planned on keeping the stock Gball on there when I get one. Yeah I had heard the Divergence wasn't too bad on those stock lenses.
Hah! I Keep forgetting you have the same name as me, although your username is cooler than mine.

Hi,
Yes i have quite a few builds with the G ball and i like them. When i machine a heat sink and focus adapter i use a empty lens barrel to thread around the G all can so it doesn't look like a cyclops and has a finished appearance on the front of the sink.
Yes open cans need attention and are fragile to a certain point.

Nice low power build, Richie. Yeah, you need to be aware of the maximum current and don't exceed it on these low power single mode diodes.

Actually, the G-2 is AR coated for 405nm to 450nm. At least that is what Jordan said of them years ago.

Hi, just wondering, are you using the 50mw pl520 diode? Sorry to hear your not happy with the output.

I've got the pl520 120mw and the pl515 120mw diodes in builds and their quite bright. For indoor use it's about all you can stand. Quite nice. I prefer the 515 over the 520 but it's just a personal preference. I highly recommend either one of those diodes. Food for thought.

I don't think DTR has any of the pl515's left but you can always ask.
