hi guys, o-like is having trouble re-stocking the 200mw module because the crystal according to susie is hard to get, but she will re-stock that module...

I am having the exact same problem jeffd. Opto's are IR filtered and can go up to almost 180mW and have an excellent divergence but I think I would rather have this O-like module in a jayrob host. It's going to set me back like $250 though.

I chose to go with opto for the reliability, better divergence, and fast shipping.

Hopefully my pen will be here monday!

Why spend so much? $135 for the module and $35 (shipped) for one of Ehgemus' excellent hosts - SOLID aluminum, great looks, great heatsinking, 30-second installation (insert module and tighten screw, done) - total investment, $170 plus 30 seconds of your life for a really efficient, quality, sweet-as-hell looking laser (that noone will mistake for a flashlight!)

Don't forget $6 shipping on the module, $4.90 for batteries, and $11.54 for the charger. Still a great price but I just don't like the look of the host. The chrome is cool but I am looking for something smaller and I don't really like the RPL style either. Probably would be my second choice though.

Did you see the new small hosts Ehgemus is making? 7/8" X 5" fit for an O-like and a single CR2 battery, knurled grip, another really slick design - only $37 shipped (and again, a drop-in) - just another option, even if it is chrome-ish...

For batteries, search "Juice rechargeable" on Ebay, the CR2/CR123's are $1 each ($1.50 shipping no matter the quantity) right here in the US, protected, no long wait, and very high quality IMHO - far higher quality than the DX crap anyhow, that's for sure!

If you end up going w/ Jayrobs kit, that's actually really cool (I just personally have an adversion to retrofitted flashlights as hosts, thats all) - Jay does pheominal, standard-setting work, so you can't go wrong there either!

Opto includes a quality charger? Or just a cheap wall charger without the auto cutoff. I've learned spring for a quality charger. And that low duty cycle of the pens from opto would scare me away. Why not pay the same price for a more powerful laser from CNI that has a longer duty cycle

Brewcitymusic: I think that was the host I was looking at yesterday. The DIY green from jayrob is only 1/8th of an inch wider and 3/4 of an inch shorter. I like hosts that fit in your pocket, I would get jayrob's pocket green host but I want something stronger than 50mW. Can you give me a link for both of eghemus's hosts.

Ordered one in LIB's modules for 235$. Susie had one for him two days ago. I hope I'll have the time to review it. In any ways I bet this will be overkill :D. shoukd come in about 2 to 3+1/2 weeks.

Susie finally responded to my emails, saying that the 200mW module will be back in stock in a few days. I hope so.

Has anyone gotten their orders or heard anything about these modules? I e-mailed Susie about these a couple days ago and still haven't gotten a response back. They have been out of stock for a while. I don't know what's up.

I just got my 200mW module in today. Haven't installed it yet, need to go get a CR123 battery :) looks great though.

I did a full review (with tons of pics) on the mini host 5x7/8 made by Ehgemus. Check it out in the reviews section.
