Default New member looking for info!

Hi everybody!

I just joined and I am new to the laser world, I have been browsing your lovely community and reading on the types of lasers, where to buy, what to buy (somewhat).

I love the green lasers (green is my favorite color lol) and I was wondering what you all think should be a good starting laser?

I do have a couple pen lasers at home... A few reds and a green that runs off an 18650 battery.

I really dont know much about the larger one I have as I bought it off some random ebay wannabe site... ( I know, I know... insert all the why dafuq would you do that comments here!)

It had a really strong beam but its not strong enough to burn anything or start a match on fire, so obviously I was dooped!

Outside of all that, I was wondering what you all think would be the best green laser output for an overall fun experience? Like both pointing, and burning stuff! I obviously dont wanna get too crazy with it (build my own, as I have no idea how to do that) but a fun starting point would be cool!

Thank in advance!

Welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you.
Please list your lasers in your signature! It's a common practice here.
In order to make a recommendation I have to know your price range. What are you willing to pay?

By the way, green lasers are really not as good at burning as blue lasers are. High-power green lasers start getting really expensive too.
Since you already have a green laser, why not purchase a blue one? They have very bright beams and can burn things incredibly well.
This laser should work great. It has a glass lens (which won't melt after prolonged use) and packs quite a punch!
While you're at it, get these cheap safety goggles. Much better than they eBay kind and just as cheap.

I will do my best to get the info from my lasers and post them in my signature! I am at work ATM and I dont know the info off the top of my head

But as for price... I was thinking under $200 would be grand for a starter laser...

As for a blue one, that sounds awesome! I didnt know that the blue ones worked better for the burning and stuff! I will look at those links when I get home!

Thank you for the quick reply and warm welcome!

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say you are fairly young. That seems to be what young people who are getting into laser like the most. Once you have burned a few things, that wears off, however. Lasers are good for a great many more things than catching something on fire. Also, the 445nm blue lasers that are good burners are also great at putting out your eyesight too. A mistaken reflection off a surface is all it takes to lose your sight forever. You can buy these lasers, but I would recommend you learn about laser safety as you often don't get a second chance. Anyway, Welcome.

If your just beginning maybe do a search for DTR'S 510 threaded modules.. all you gotta do is buy a mechanical Vape mod and screw in the 510 and rock and roll. If I can find the post about it I'll share.

However good luck on the hunt! I am fairly new here also and I do like green beams but blue is my favorite by far and not really for burning I just like a thick blue beam.

Those are nice, but I don't think they're good for burning. This is because you have to hold down the button the entire time, which isn't conducive to burning stuff.

My red in Chinese host has side momentary it burns but I do get tired of holding it sometimes.. my 2$ plastic clamps from harbor freight work good to hold button and prop it up lol.

I am 25... I've always really liked lasers, but didnt really know much about them other then they looked cool!

I came across a laser once that a friend had that could burn stuff... and I immediately said " I WANT ONE!" lol

I would rather build one in all honesty (im a built not bought kind of person) but since I know nothing about build these... for now I think I would be good with one to play a round with and learn more about before I get TOO into building!

See, this is why I came here! I am a part of another forum for my car, and the people there are also extremely knowledgeable and helpful! I didnt even know that they made 510 screw-in modules! I have multiple mech mods for vaping at home and a lot of 18650 batteries! Thanks for the info!

Thanks again @sta! I have went ahead and purchased the first link you provided me with! Ill post some pics and what I think when it shows up!

I have these. The 520nm w/g2 lense is nice. Nice beam. Bright! The 445 w/3 element lense is a nice burner and also has a nice beam. The 465nm w/g2 is intense. It burns very well but has a short duty cycle. The beam is strange that it focuses to a line rather than a dot. It also seems to be the brightest of the 3.
A cheap series wired box mod and a pair of new batteries 18650 LG INR18650MJ1 3500mAh High Discharge - Batteries - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers is a quick way to lasing.

Edit: forgot to mention how great dtr's shipping is.

What in your opinion is good for just seeing a beam? Preferably green bit doesn't have to be its just brighter. Was looking at a 100mw but see people with 1mw and say they can see the beam also what's the best NM to go with? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Vapelife. For visibility the best wavelength to go with is 532nm (Green). As for power 100mW is more than adequate for seeing a nice beam. My findings is in dark conditions around 25mW onwards of 532nm is capable of producing a faint green beam.
1mw of power is not adequate in most lighting conditions to see a visible beam. The only time a beam will be visible from 1mw is when there is thick fog present. The people who can see a beam from their "1mW" laser most definitely have a overspec model.

OK that was Amazon not sure what the wavelength is but it's 100mw and then there is one on eBay for like 40 bucks that's 1w at 532nm so I'm just confused on what's real you know?
